What the hell is wrong with advert writers? More to the point, What the hell is wrong with the companies which are actually paying for this nauseating drivel? If the vast majority of ads on radio and tv were presented to me for approval prior to airing, they would get a BIG FAIL!

I don't need an 8 yr old kid trying to sell me a vehicle! Do you see any 50+ guys laying on the floor, trying to sell leggos to kids??? FAIL

The A&W schlock. Get rid of the idiotic nerd. This doesn't even qualify as a lame attempt at humor. It does however get the MUTE BUTTON just as quick as I can get to it! FAIL

I don't need some middle-age bald 'never really was' 'has been', SCREAMINGabout the fantastic furniture 'his' company is flogging. I'm not deaf! MUTE

'AUSSIE FOR GOLD'.This one in particular is a friggin infomercial. Anything with Anthony Sullivan or any other Aussie is overdone, used up, squeezed for all it's worth and then some. Move on!MUTE He really makes me want to puke!

Any ad that repeats, repeats , repeats,... the ph # 7 friggin times! MUTE

Advertisers. Take your que from the Brand Power commercials. Adult products, (kids don't do the grocery shopping) Aimed at adults, and presented like adults. The only commercial which I would pass!

Edit for Brenda: Those lame TAMPON ads. From what I might know about such matters. Wishing a woman 'Have a happy period' would be akin to wishing a man A happy circumcision!BIG FAIL!

Advertisers; Your intended message cant' get through to me if the tv is muted or the radio turned off. The message that is 'getting through' however,is that you think I am a mindless idiot. You just lost another potential sale!

Rate the ads that you are forced to tolerate.

Yea Yogi... I agree... most advertisements suck.

Some assume that the average consumer must be a complete idiot and need the obvious pointed out to them.

Others try to appeal to that bullshit "status" symbol crap. (you are an unworthy human being unless you drive this, or eat this, or wear this)

Still others are just plain cheesy.

The "Brand Power" ones are ok. At least they are brief and to the point without a whole lot of blah blah.

However, there is one ad for the SPCA with Sarah McLaughlin singing that sad song of hers and showing pics of sad puppies and kitties wanting someone to love them and stop hurting them makes me want to hand my wallet over. Talk about using emotion to hit you where you live!

Yogi the real reason you're pissed at the inane commercials you have to endure is that advertisers by nature are complete idiots. To them anyone over 30 doesn't exhist and isn't relevant.

Either they don't understand demographics or failed math miserably in school. Just because the boomers aged doesn't mean they stopped shopping. Yet all you see on TV are ad's aimed at a generation that's one half the size of the boomers and 1/10 as affluent. [huh]

So until the advertising executives figure out that who ever told them that the only people who buy stuff are 13 year old anorexic girls was wrong.

We are gonna be inundated with even more stupid commercials about babies buying and selling stocks, beer commercials that guarantee that you'll end up with a hot chick and her two headed alien friend while she chops, dices and slices her vegies with the Vince approved Slap Chop.

Actually, the real problem is, people keep buying their products in spite of the almost insulting advertising.
One of the ones that irked me the most was an ad for some pasta cooking gadget asking if yer tired of the mess. They then show a kitchen almost dripping in spaghetti sauce. Stove top, walls, counter, cabinets. A pair of monkeys flinging feces couldn't have achieved that kind of coverage.

The advertisers aren't stupid. The bulk of consumers are.
They actually believe one Brand of fucking salt is better than another brand of salt.
It's sodium-goddam-chloride.
Huge numbers of them actually believe huge corporations are 'working to save you money', that a Glorious Chairmain Seven Flowers People's Liberation Army Joint Venture Inc. computer with a plastic logo that says HP is 'better' than the one with the Compaq logo on it, or the Dell.
Or brands of goddam water. Water! It's just water selling for four times the price of gas and there's brand loyalty on that too.

Advertisers are far from stupid. Put the name in your head. That's what matters. For every one that is so insulted they'll actually boycott a product over it's ad, one hundred will see the bulk pack of salt and the brand name for a dime more and remember the brand and buy it.
We're the idiots. A.S.A. acetominaphen and Ibuprofen sell at double the price and at double the volume when they tack a logo and commercial on it.
