Choosing a university is a tough choice. There are a lot of things to consider.
While I agree with others that you need to think about your financial situation, I don't believe that it should be the primary determinant. Education is an investment. A good education from a good school pays for itself over time.
Think about what kinds of courses you want to take. Does the school offer the full range of courses that you might be interested in?
Think, as you are, about the kinds of extra-curricular sports, clubs, societies that are important to you. Does the school have a good mix? Does the school encourage involvement? Are professors accommodating to the demands that some activities might require?
Think about the kinds of students that attend the school? How many are local vs. from out of town? Schools with more out of towners, in my experience, tend to have a more vibrant campus community and life.
Think about the longer term challenge of choosing a career and finding a job. What services does the school offer to help job seekers? Do potential employers recruit at that school? Is the degree you might get well respected?
University is about so many things. It is about the social life and friendships that will last a lifetime. It is about academic studies and challenging yourself. It is about opening yourself up to new experiences. It is about preparing yourself for the future. Try your best to find a school that helps you across all of these dimensions.
At the end of the day, it's hard to make the wrong decision. We have a lot of great universities and you are almost guaranteed to have a great time at whichever one you choose.
