The reason some Ameriicans hate Canada is simple:
There are two kinds of Americans: those who are educated and those who aren't. By educated I mean taught to think for oneself. There's a great article in this months
Harper's Magazine that bears this out. The article asserts that the school system in the US is designed to produce a conformist and submissive population which is supposed to belive what ever someone in authority says.
Despite this there are good number of people who overcome this kind of social programming. These are the people you see calling for reason and sanity in America today all the while the majority of Americans completely believe the daily dose of lies coming from the White House. Thse are the people who admire Canada for its progressive policies which, if they were suggested in the US, would have the proponent of such ideas called a Communist.
We've all met these people in Canada as well. There are the people who think for themselves and have an open mind about things. Then there are the people with no interest in learing about anything. The problem in the US is that the know-nothings are starting to take over.
