There is nothing that happens for no reason. A mentally ill person that kills someone probably has some very complex internal struggles that they need to deal with. Just because there are things you can't see doesn't mean they don't exist.

That's not what I meant.

What did you mean, then?

War is a neccessity? No it isn't. While one side may defend itself through necessity, "the war" wasn't. The truth is that the vast majority of all wars if not all of the ones in the last 1000 years could have been prevented by honest dialougue and fair compromise.
Bullshit. That is complete and utter bullshit. I'm not even going to bother with that.

Well thought out diplomacy is usually a good deterrant for war. Of course, this assumes that some part of the bargaining is not done by schizophrenics who want to take over the world or think people can hear their thoughts. Those need to be handled a little bit differently.

Thats nothing more then justifying and rationlizing. We kill millions and its OK because its "war". Serial killers kill far less and its wrong.
We are killing enemy combatants (for the most part) in uniform, people who signed up for it. Serial killers are killing innocent people in their homes or some shit.

And armies don't?

All people and all societies rationalize acts like this. Some, like the amish, say nothing justifies going against their gods commandment not to kill.
Or use technology! XD

The amish do use technology, but they mostly only use technology that is sustainable. Any kind of modern technology that they use is considered very carefully before it's included in their community.

Right is subjective, which is why we could be born with it.

If "right" is subjective, that would be a reason why we are not born with it.

Are you referring to one who feels no remorse for killing when you refer to 'deranged mentally ill people killing for no reason'?

Not necessarily. I'm talking people like serial killers.

Serial killers don't kill for no reason, they kill because they want to and because the part of the their brain that would normally learn right and wrong is not physically fully developed.

Read Steven Pinker's "The Blank Slate". This is a massive question. Plenty of revolutionary scientists have conducted research on whether people are born with innate morals.

The one universal truth that seperates us from animals is that we have a built in sense of justice and seek retribution if we feel we have been wronged, something not exhibited in many areas of the animal kingdom.
