Interesting Article. I'm an atheist but I respect where this guy is coming from.

If he valued Truth, he certainly would.

His Truth was way beyond whether to believe in evolution or not. But as far as it goes, and as far as he would likely get involved in the discussion, he would probably say that evolution seems to be the best theory out there to explain observed date from a subject object, materialist point of view. Then he would probably segue into telling his followers that the bible is not the inerrant word of God, that one reason for his coming was to demonstrate that things change and you can't just hang onto the old beliefs, you've got to be open to change. Just look at how much trouble his teachings caused the old timey Jewish power structure. He would also ask how much better is your life if you beat somebody with a different pov re evolution in argument, and don't you have anything better to worry about? Like you know, the Kingdom of God and all.

Then he'd point out to me that what I wrote above is just my projetion onto him, and that i have no clue what he would say about the matter, and don't I have anything better to worry about, like you know, the Kingdom of God?

Well going with the assumption that Jesus was real, I'd say He wouldn't "believe" anything, He'd KNOW.

I'm also fairly certain, as opposed to too many of his followers, that Jesus wouldn't behave like a total dick towards anyone who does trust in evolutionary science rather than creationist religious dogma.

Very good point. He'd just go ask daddy. Daddy will know, Daddy knows everything. (do you think in grade school Jesus would brag that his dad could beat up all the other kid's dads. All at the same time. Just have to do a little smiting and that's that. And then the tough kids beat the shit out of him, which made him all about turning the other cheek.

I don't pretend to understand that mumbo jumbo. I think the trinity is the Godhead, but Yahweh is the dad, ie God. Whatever, Yahweh inseminated Mary (couldn't have been by parthenogenesis because then Yeshua would have been a girl.) So Yeshua I guess was born only half god, but became one with the trinity once he was resurrected. But remember when John was baptizing him, the Holy Spirit appeared in the form of a dove and said "this is my only begotten son, in whom I am well pleased." So that wasn't Jesus talking, but I'm not sure if it was Yehweh or HS.

Meh the closest thing to a understandable explanation I have gotten is to think of it like the three states of matter. Solid, liquid and gas; they are all water but can exist in either state. However it still reads to me that God sent himself on a suicide mission in order to save humanity from sin, something he imposed on us.

Well we agree as written and taught it doesn't make much sense. I'm sure there are people who understand it on a deeper level, but unfortunately the Christians purged themselves of most of their mystics long ago. I'm pretty sure the people who actually wrote the bible did not intend for it to be taken literally tho - they were smarter than modern people in that respect.
