I pulled out an "old" (five years) pair of Advent wireless speakers that I was never happy with - for some time now I've thought about tearing them apart and making them into something I could actually use, and apparently today was the day.
After pulling it all apart I found what I expected - a whole bunch of stuff I don't understand and two wires leading to each speaker
I figured I could remove the shitty headphone speakers and replace them with a 1/8" stereo jack, which would basically leave me with a wireless transmitter that I could connect to a simple pair of desktop speakers, or even another set of more comfortable headphones.
My first instinct was to use the jack from an old diskman I had, since it had both a 'line out' jack and a 'headphone' jacks.
Now, my questions are this:
1) is there any difference between the 'line out' and 'headphone' jacks themselves?
2) it looks like there are four or five soldering points on each jack, but is there somehow I can figure out which connect to the two wires for each channel?
3) are there any other factors I'm not considering?
I realize it would be an order of magnitude easier to find a female jack cable end instead of the circuit-board type, but I don't have any cable kicking around that I want to cut up, so I'm hoping to try this first. This is purely for the hell of it, so it's not a big deal to experiment.
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!
