New one, from part of my testing.

I found out I have Movie Maker on my computer, so I jazzed this one up a bit :D

My ears were ringing for about half an hour afterwards.

The lighter section in the middle of the frame, right under the black hydraulic jack, completely seperated from the steel leg (on the right with the red lettering). In all the other tests, it's been a much more gradual event, since the wood usually fails before the fibreglass.

Since the specimens are so big, we're dealing with some pretty large forces - around 250000 lbs in the jack. When that goes all at once, it's noticable to say the least. The blue frame is bolted to the floor with 2" threaded steel rod, but it still moves around quite a bit during the test, as you can see.

You can't see it from the side I taped, but this is what it looks like on the side that broke. That's fibreglass which has been pulled away at the joint.

Daaaamn! I thought it looked like everything moved, but I was not sure if it was a camera artifact or what actually happened. Seeing the 2 inch bolts in the floor is what threw me off. Hard to get around the concept of them not being solid ;)
