In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Linux Operating System, the nonprofit Linux Foundation has produced an infographic and video that reminds us how much of an impact the open source operating system has had on the world.
In case you've been living under a rock for the last two decades, Linux is part of pretty much every technology ecosystem--mobile (Android), Web (Google), consumer (TiVo), and powers a huge amount of the Internet itself. And it continues to grow, both as an enabler of new services in the cloud and as the operating system that powers huge corporate data centers.

Well, Linux is good system but it's far from Windows only because of couple of small things such as console, say honestly, who from simple people will be wasting time for studying it?. Not so many, I would rather go to the gym than waste my time on it. In addiction Ubuntu (one of the most popular kind of Linux releases ) works not so good with Ati. And the third factor is money. Linux needs a lot of it for being on the level near Windows Xp and 7. There are positive things - stability and no viruses. That's why Linux has becomed OS number 1 for servers.

Exactly. Linux on the desktop is a long way off, but on the server side it rocks. And the Command line is the only way to operate! It's so much more flexible than a GUI.

I've been using Linux on the desktop for years, the future is now!

Me too since 2006. I use it at work full time and at home most of the time.
