You have probably seen these ads or helpfull reminders going around, trying to get you to phone a number to ensure you don't get bothered by those nasty marketers. They warn that all these cell phone numbers will soon go public and they will all be picked up by tella-marketers.

Does anyone else believe this is a scam or some kind of trick?
Do keep in mind that the DNCL does not affect sme groups like political parties or some non-profit charity groups. I think this DNCL will still be sold of fto these groups.

"I don't want people to call me so I'll tell the government my number so the'll keep it a secret?" Does that sound likely to you?

A similar program has been a great success in the US so I don't see why it wouldn't be up here as well.

Believe it or not, but sometimes a government can actually do a good job. 8O

As far as I know, it exists... And, just tell the telemarketeer to not call you again, and they have to remove your phonenumber from the list. Takes 10 days. If they call you after that, you could sue them...

What turns out to be a scam, is the email about it. You can call a number (2 are given, one is the right one, the other one is not) or do it online. (DUUUUHHHHH, AR just posted that article  )

Cell phone companies aren't going to release your number, It's all a big scam.
