Just need 2'x4' solar panels that can generate 10 kWh per panel per day now...reasonably priced of course. :)

It is indeed amazing that we can make use of it's heat. To have energy for our homes and appliances and of course, to save! Solar energy panels really helped many people. It is very useful and reasonable in saving money. It is all natural and a green nature friendly.

But does it worth the pay when we all new that we can't really use it during winter and rainy days?

If everyone managed to go solar the government would tax the sunshine.

Don't get too excited. Our star will expand to a red giant and swallow up the Earth in about 20 billion years, so this little MIT scheme is only of short-term value to humanity.

That oxygen-hydrogen recombination process, if it operates as described, could be useful for much more than just storing solar power. But, of course, we will have to wait and see. A lot of science fads haven't shown much value in recent years.

MIT researchers have discovered a way to store solar energy that could make solar power in homes a mainstream energy option and might even make power companies obsolete, at least for residential needs.

I don't know about you Scape, but that really drives me nuts. The science that these guys built on was free for all to share. Why aren't their derivative works?

Yes, if you follow the link to the actual paper in Science magazine. "In Situ Formation of an Oxygen-Evolving Catalyst . . . ."

This story's almost a year old, isn't it? I'm pretty sure I first heard about it last summer. Does anybody have an update on what, if anything, is being done with this tech?

Al Gore had it kneecapped because if anything was done to actually solve the problems, he'd have nothing to bitch about.

Well, he'd still have the 2000 Presidential election to bitch about.
