No-one other than your boss needs your SIN number, so it's amazing who asks for it... and who tells them. I also agree about the mother's maiden name.... it's far too easy to figure out, if you don't already know it.

The price of loyalty cards is definitely worth it to me. I've gotten my kids' birthday and Christmas gifts through airmiles, and I'm close to getting $150 worth of free stuff at shoppers. I also save tons at Safeway using their card. I rarely buy anything that's not on sale.

I kind of figured it was rhetorical, but it might have been useful information for some.

I also google myself once in a while. Amazing, but there are only a small number of people on the planet with a name the same as mine. I try not to do it too often though, because Google keeps a list of queries people make. And I don't want my name hanging around anywhere.

It's a bitch when it comes to some photos, jokes, etc. But that is the price I pay if I want to remain at least somewhat Anonymous. And safe from Viruses.

Edit: Cachefly.net. Hmmmm. Let me do some sleuthing. . .

You don't want to block Cachefly.net, most of the CKA layout images and javascript are hosted there. Cachefly is a "Content delivery network", that makes the images load faster because it spreads them around the world. Then you connect to the server closest to you, rather than always connecting to the CKA servers in Vancouver.

I also encourage people to not block google-analytics.com, because then I don't get proper stats... and I like stats!
