True. Basic common sense is defied by many complex and simple truths which is why I prefer reason and logic to 'basic common sense'.
For instance, basic common sense tells us the earth is
flat. Reason and logic, coupled with studious observation and mathematical skills are required to independently fathom the fact that the earth is not flat.
