Sagan was a giant of the 20th century. Astronomer, teacher, novelist, environmentalist, pacifist; what a great man. I had read the book "Cosmos" several times before I'd seen the video-series. It blew me away that he had his book memorized. I sure as hell couldn't spit out my writing, verbatim, right off the tip of my tongue.

Despite the fact that his and my views in an area or two were diametrically opposed, I always enjoyed Cosmos immensely. I was always interested in the stars but Cosmos fired my imagination.
Awesome post Scape. That's a ++ for sure. [B-o]

You're diametrically opposed to a man who's entire life was dedicated to world peace and scientific inquiry? :?

You've never seen Cosmos! Wow! Sorry, I think I've read the book and seen the series so many times I can't fathom there is someone out there that hasn't.

Enjoy! Here's a bonus:

I always grin a bit when Sagan comes up on a forum. Usually because, sooner or later, someone who argued with me that science is an atheist pursuit or an atheist concept (and that I was a psuedo-intellectual pillock for suggesting otherwise) will come in here voicing their vociferous agreement and adoration of everything which Sagan said and I will get to drop the bombshell that Sagan agrees with me that it's an agnostic concept. :lol:

Not saying that I'm doing that here though (since I don't know if I've ever discussed that on these forums). Thanks a ton for sharing this with us, Scape! I've already viewed them and, even if someone doesn't agree, he is a marvelous speaker to listen to.
