Whenever there is heatwave, I hear triumphant call: here is the proof of Global Warming. Now, we see snow in Las Vegas, in Texas and Arizona. What happened to Global Warming? If there was a panic about Global freezing, then this would be a good argument for the fear mongers.

Thats because nobody with scientific credibilty makes such statements.

They rely rely on other data.

Individual events are not evidence of anything. Trends are. It's happening, don't worry, you didn't miss it.

individual events like a couple of icebergs melting in an arctic summer is all the proof required

The loss of the entire polar ice cap may just add a little ammo to the argument though.

It's good to see those of the green religion keeping the faith in spite of such obvious proof otherwise.

Benny makes a good point. There's far too much hysteria surrounding the discussion of Global warming.

I recall the winter of 2007, which was unusually warm in Central Canada. We were inundated with daily stories about how double-digit temperatures in January were the new normal, how this was going to lead to the imminent destruction of the planet, how July was going to see the earth scorched white, etc.

Then 2008 came, and Toronto suffered through one of the coldest, snowiest winters on record, followed by a wet, cool summer, and now once again, we're getting hammered with snow and cold before Christmas.

The Global Warming crowd can't have it both ways. You can't scream the sky is falling everytime we have a mild winter, then say the weather is totally unrelated to climate when the mercury drops.

lol. People seem to make a common mistake, that 'one' is a pattern. Yes, it snowing in Vegas, etc. But it's nether a record low temps, nor even a record snowfall event. It has snowed more, and been colder in the past.

I too tire of 'the sky is falling' crowd - on both sides of the argument!
