yeah dido ...although this is one of those threads everyone ignores probably because they directly or indirectly work or are paid by the gas and oil industry . I think too many people are involved in the industry maybe a few need to get off the band wagon and do a different job... as if we need more people involved in fuel , resin , and plastics . I suppose 100 Trillion more dollars to be made is the reason...

100 Trillion more dollars and another 3000 of our children killed for oil.

George Bush is the ONLY President in history that has gone to war for oil, and didn't get any.
The gas prices prove it.

You can't. The EV-1 project by GM was scrapped, like the Avro Arrow. People who leased and wanted to buy those cars weren't allowed to, and GM had all the prototypes destroyed.

Yes, over their 5 year test, they used up a total of $25 in parts that needed replacing. So, there is no market for GM to gouge the customer.

I believe this is why the trend is towards hybrids, rather than pure electrics. Hybrids still have a gas motor that needs regular, costly, maintainence.

If the EV-1 test had gone on longer, then the vehicles batteries would need replacing. Also a significant cost for the hybrids.

Electric cars still require energy, they have limited range and they do not have the power to drive and run the heater at the same time.

Also as the electricity ran out on the battery the car would slow down with a reduction of power. You get the same amount of power (production) out of a full tank of gas as you do right before it runs out.

How would GM benefit from maintainence? You just go to NAPA or a local garage.

Try to get parts for an electric car from NAPA.
