isn't the CFL one of the oldest professional leagues in NA?

double the time the NFL has been around. Guess it just goes to show you what marketing and population can do.

That said, can't stand the NFL, complete snooze fest in my opinion.

In what way is football more exciting than hockey?

- hockey is faster
- takes far more skill to handle a puck with a stick than to just carry a ball.
- no stoppage of play in hockey everytime someone gets hit
- nothing better than a sweet breakaway goal/nice save
- just as much stategy in hockey
- more player familiarity as there are just 6 on at a time in hockey.
- 82 game schedule is way more rigorous.

Well that is partly because there is not Football in May. I would also add that football is more exciting in January.

I don't enjoy the NFL so January doesn't work for me.

is the question wheter or not NFl is better than NHL, or if football is better than hockey. I dont care about the leagues much. Hockey is an aweosme sport. It's way more fun than football.

Hockey...

I was born and raised into it and my whole family follows it to death (both NHL and AHL) I also played on a rec team when I was a kid as well as playing it with friends on the ice pond during the winter.

And I support our local team (Milwaukee Admirals) that are on the AHL.

Football has essentially remained as it was since the fifties outside of the goalposts being repositioned.

Hockey, on the other hand, has been transformed into a form of football over the last three decades where tackling, holding and clipping are now normal.

In the fifties and sixties, I watched both sports with equal enthusiasm. I've played both. Hockey was magnificent. Football was joyfully brutal and honourable.

In the last 10 years, I have given up watching any hockey (unless a relative is playing) and watch football less now than in the past but at a rate of about 50x hockey. If I want to be involved with a sport like hockey, I'll join a street gang instead.

Football sucks, I consider it the world's most boring spectator sport. Hockey all the way. Though if you really want to know, I like soccer best.

Football is more exciting than hockey:
-A guy 6'6" running a 4 second 40 is pretty fast
-one guy has to figure out what 21 other people are going to do and 11 of them are allowed to nearly kill him if they get the chance
-not allow to throw the ball away if the offence isn't working
-40 yard pass over a cornerback into a guys arms that is running full speed
-dump and chase???
-you could put Sid the kid and Peyton Manning in a room of people from northern canada and southern US State (you can pick one) and on average more people will know the football guy....
-I once said that to a football player and you know that he said....You can tell which sports are hardest to play by how many times they play in a season- Baseball 160+, Basketball 90+ (I think), Hockey 82 and football 18. There is a reason, it is physical recovery. Everytime the ball is put in play in football, it is an all out fight for that 16 seconds. Guys can play a shift in hockey for minute and a half.
