Sure the Devils lost Game 1. They had eight days off after Tampa Bay, and true they haven't had competition as good as Ottawa, but I wouldn't count them out yet. One game is not a series - ask the Wild. An overtime win is not a commanding win. Thinking Brodeur is "past his prime" is a joke. Two of Ottawa's goals were shots that Brodeur had no chance - one off a skate, and the overtime goal (which I will readily admit was a good goal). Brodeur can get hot and stay hot for long enough to bring the Cup to Jersey (again).

Don't forget how quickly Jersey scored their two goals...and how they completely handcuffed Lalime on those shots.

If Jersey scores first in any game, they WILL win. They can slow down any team and frustrate them into taking stupid penalties. They did it in 1995 and 2000 facing better teams as good as Ottawa.

New Jersey in 7....they'll have to work for it!

By the way...there's more Canadian players on the Devils than on the Senators.

So true, maritime,
the devils are a VERY disciplined team, and they can shut down a lot of fast-flying teams in their tracks. But all through these playoffs Ottawa has been very strong at the end, stronger in OT. I wouldn't want Jersey to get a three goal lead early, though...

I would love to see the Sens win the next 3 games and make Barry Melrose cry!

And if statistics are on our side, everytime a Canadian team has won the presidents trophy, the team that won it goes to the finals. And only one time a Canadian team that won it lost in the finals, they still lost to a fellow Canadian team.
