He should face the appropriate laws and punishment that state abides to all of those caught breaking the law. If Joe Shmuck is allowed back to work while in the law takes it's course, then he should be allowed the same. From what I've read and heard alcohol was not a factor in the accident, speed definitely was. If after the case is done and he is found guilty, the NHL will probably use presidency with similar outcomes to pass judgement. Craig McTavish had an accident years ago that also lead to a loss of life. He did not go to jail and was not suspended.
Since they were very good friends, it will be something he will have to deal with the rest of his life.
