If you can't handle seeing involuntary body shaking from an unconscious body, stop watching before he stops sliding.

KITZBUEHEL, Austria (Reuters) - American skier Scott Macartney, injured in a spectacular crash in Kitzbuehel's World Cup downhill on Saturday, has regained consciousness and is recovering well.

"According to the U.S. ski team coaches, Scott Macartney is awake and feeling good," organizers said on Sunday.

The 30-year-old from Crystal Mountain crashed at full speed in the final jump of the downhill, fell on his back and lost his helmet.

Taken to hospital in Innsbruck, Macartney regained consciousness overnight and his coaches said he was making jokes again. He has apparently suffered no fractures.

Organizers added Macartney would stay under observation in hospital for a few days but a full recovery was expected.

Yeah, when I saw this the other day it didn't look like it was that bad (compared to others) until he stopped sliding 8O

Amazing that he's alright.

This race is kind of the Super Bowl of Sking for Austrians. We were staying about 6 miles up the valley when this race was on that year. We thought about taking it in but the locals told us we'd have to catch the train before 7:00am for the 11:00 race, any train after that would most likey be full.

Back in those days that was about the same time we were getting back to our rooms after a Friday night out so we never made it. But we did ski there and I know TV doesn't really show what kind of a drop, that is.
