YES YES YES;

The Reds had a fairly dismal season but this is great news for next year which should spur management to keep the talent and open their wallets to put togeather a treble-capable team!! :D :D :D

You'll never walk alone

I think that's sensible. Why should a team not be able to defend the trophy that they won?

I think what maybe should have happened is Liverpool go into the Champions' League at the expense of Everton. A similar think happened in Spain last season. It's just a pity that Liverpool have to go through the Qualifiers in order to get to the tournament proper, but that should be a formality. They are playing Welsh minnows TNS, and are playing at Wrexham's stadium in North Wales, a short drive from Liverpool, because TNS's stadium is too small to host Liverpool.

I also heard rumours on the TV today that Manchester United want to buy Ronaldinho and have offered to pay Barcelona a whopping £82 million for him.

I don't think that Everton should lose out. If the situation was reversed I wouldn't want to lose out. The rule about 4 teams per nation shouldn't be an absolute to deal with situations like this.

I have a friend who is a Hotspur fan who absolutely hates it that teams that get knocked out early in the champions league got into UEFA cup. He feels it should not be allowed. He was just pissed because a few years back that is what happened to Chelsea & they knocked Tottenham out of UEFA.

Liverpool should have no problem with TNS but all to often last year I saw them defeated by an inferior team like when they were knocked out of the FA cup (Bolton I believe).

I guess the "American takeover" of Man U will see a huge increase in buying players, sorta like Chelski eh?

Not likely. Glazer is nowhere near as loaded as Abramovich.

Bolton are a lot stronger than TNS. I think Liverpool and Bolton finished level on points at the end of the season.

Liverpool will breeze past TNS.

I've just heard now that Luis Figo wants to play in Liverpool.

So we could have Ronaldinho going to United and Figo going to Liverpool!

What do you think of Glazer's takeover of the club? Are you as against it as other United fans?

And Liverpool have signed Zenden from Chelsea.

He wants Figo to come to Liverpool and Figo himself said that playing for Liverpool is his dream.

This is from AOL News -

Liverpool new boy Boudewijn Zenden has admitted he would love to be joined at Anfield by former World Player of the Year Luis Figo.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the Portuguese star over recent weeks, with reports suggesting they have agreed terms with the player over a one-year contract.

Getting Figo would be a major coup for Liverpool and Zenden told Sky Sports News: "Any team and any player would like to see Figo play for his side. Obviously it's not up to me, but we will see who joins us in the next few weeks."

Well Liverpool have just signed £6million goalkeeper Jose 'Pepe' Reina, but that wasn't their main problem last year. Scoring goals was.

As of july 11 it looks like the reds won't be signing Luis Figo.

They are close to signing Valencia midfielder Mohamed Lamine Sissoko. Trouble with all these players is that I only really follow UK football so I haven't really heard anything about them.

My mistake, it was Burnley who knocked them out last january from the FA cup. They finished mid-table in the league championship.

Hey DerbyX - my daughter is a looney Liverpool fan. She even made me support them over Chelsea during the semi's (which was a tough thing to do as an ex-Londoner)

Nice to know that there are some other soccer nuts here in Canada :)

Picked it up when I lived in the UK (Brighton). My mate was a rabid liverpool fan. Course later, another good mate of mine was an Arsenal fan. Did we have some fun baiting each other.

Brighton? I lived there for a few years myself - my mom now lives in Hove. Hence my devotion to Brighton & Hove Albion FC. Going over there in a couple of weeks time & I'll buy a few soccer shirts and stuff

Oh those sunny summer days chatting up the foreign students in Churchill Square.......

I used to work at Shooters -- 7 marine parade, right across from the palace pier. I always seemed to live only a few minutes walk from the level. Some of the Best times of my life were in Brighton! Ah, good times, good times!

At first I thought, "oh bloody hell", and I still stand by that. His plan to buy the club using amazing amounts of debt doesn't sound like a sound business plan. That being said, he is making money available for the club, so we'll se how it pans out.

It's a great place - very cosmopolitan. I love the accent, smell of the sea and the zillions of pubs and wine bars to frequent.

The Royal Pavillion, nice.

When I lived there I spent loads of time at the Event II, the 2nd best club I have ever been to. Not so much at the Paradox. A fair amount of time at the Concorde (I knew the bar staff so I got alot of free drinks). Other favourite venues include the Zap, Swifts, Greens, and the Glousceter.
