I cant believe it! When I was watching CTV they said that in a recent article, it was stated that Salzburg was barely ahead of Vancovuer as the favorite for 2010!

Do you know why this is? Its because New York wants the 2012 olympics! I am not trying to bash when I say this (true) statement but, in the Olympics, when America wants it, they get it!

Wasnt Atlanta 1996 a little to close with Salt Lake 2002?

Actually, I read today that the contest is "Vancouver's to lose" - meaning that we're winning!!!

I have odds that Van city will win. The Olympic committee owes Canada one after chosing Bejing over TO. Plus now those pork-barrelling Koreans are having a harder time bribing people. Europe has had two games recently.

It will probably mean TO won't get the games until at least 2016, but it would be great for the economy and I will definitely go (no matter what country I may be in).

Yes but the Committe is willing to risk everything to give it to Salzburg simply because people would rather see the Olympics in new york rather than in Vancouver!

I was reading an Article on CNN SI (also posted on the IOC web page, two non Canadian and unbiased sites) and it said that if Vancouver loses, Toronto is expected to be by far the favorite to win the 2012 Summer Games.

As much as I want a WINTER Olympic in Canada, if Toronto ends up getting it if Vancouver lloses, it will make Toronto look more World renouned than they already are.

I mean, Madrid, Paris, London, MOscow*, New York City all bowing down to the City of Toronto for hte 2012 Olymics, we have a world class line up and if Toronto wins, a World Class sporting city representing Canada. Toronto being the only city in all of Canada to sport 4 major sports successfully. The Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), Toronto Raptors(NBA), Toronto Argos(CFL), and Toronto Blue Jays (MLB) So I think we are the most capable of running a summer olympics without screwing up like Montreal did.

However, if Vancouver wins, we can finally show off Whisler, BC!!!!

Although New York supports Austria and Korea, I read another article on the Toronto Star saying that London, Moscow, Paris, Madrid (2012 Summer bid contestants) are all supporting Vancouver. If Vancouver wins, it will gaurentee that Toronto, the expected front runner in the race is officially knocked out of contention.

Hense, Paris will be expected to take over the top spot in the 2012 bid if Toronto doesnt run.

So Canada is basically guardinteed the Olympics within the next 10 years!

Is it not true that every city who have hosted the summer games, have had trouble re couping from the financial loss of buiding and preparing. If this is the case why would ant city want to host the games?

Not really, Calgary totally benefited from the olympics as it put that city on the map, just Montreal got screwed.
