Having spent almost every weekend growing up at an airport, I tend to take the pilot view of skydiving. Leave a perfectly good aircraft in flight makes no sense.........

But it's nice to have a means to leave the aircraft if "problems" develop! 8O

I am a pilot, and that is exactly my point of view.

I probably would try it though, if the oportunity ever presented itself and it was insanely convenient. Knowing me, I'd do it just because.

I was once present for a very funny conversation on the subject in my hometown bar between a guy I know who has done a bit of it, and another guy who was asking about it:

2nd guy: So you own your own chute?

1st guy: Yup, after jump school, I bought my own.

2nd guy: How much does one of those cost?

1st guy: Oh, lets see... ...you can get a cheap one f

2nd guy: CHEAP! CHEAP? Why the hell would I want a cheap parachute??

 It was pretty funny.
