Whats your favorite sports teams names? Some of them are very well thought out. I have three examples from my own BCHL that I really like:

Trail Smoke Eaters
Vernon Vipers
Prince George Spruce Kings

They just seem to have a ring.

North Bay Shad Flies. Not a real team name....but should be.

I also really like the U of S Huskies and UBC Thunderbirds names...

Yeah, thats a good name Trev. Wasn't there a team named that from Vancouver in that old defunct league, what was it called, oh yeah, the NHL........

I've been following the Manitoba Moose, the Canucks farm team. Reid, King and Auld are really kicking butt. They're in first in their division of the AHL.

Manitoba Moose, that's a good name too. Yeah, the Roughriders name has different backgrounds, and the Roosevelt thing is one of them.

Trail Smoke Eater is a excellent name . If you go back a few decades ago how bout the Flin Fon Bombers . Estevan Bruins and my Fav naturaly Edmonton Oil Kings.

I always thought the Toronto Argonauts was a great name. Gotta love a name taken from Greek mythology! Hamilton Tiger-Cats is cool too...most CFL teams have pretty cool names...

In hockey, Brandon Wheat Kings is a classic. Halifax Mooseheads is another good one. And the Chilliwack Chiefs. Not so much because of the "Chiefs" nickname but because "Chilliwack" sounds kinda cool...

Lots of good names up there, but what's with all the bird teams in baseball? But the professional league with the most, uh, interseting names, was the XFL. I watched it long enough to learn some of the team names (the Maniax? the Thunderbolts?) and that the league was doomed.

I can tell you my least favourite names; The Washington Redskins, Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, Edmonton Eskimos. They all should be changed. One of my favourites is The Manitoba Moose. I got a jersey when I was in Winnipeg and wear it with pride whenever I play hockey. But of course the Montreal Canadiens is the best.

..The Maniax?!?!... This reminds me of a team in the QMJHL based in Lewiston Maine.

Name of the team: The Lewiston MAINEiacs!! (That's the official spelling, too)

It's gotta be the goofiest name in hockey...
