I've had a slight interest in all this since the Royce Gracie days, but recently there's been this controversy in Vancouver about whether or not MMA will be allowed as an event in the city, so I've been trying to catch up, and become more knowledgeable.
Can somebody explain the UFC sucks thing to me?
It seems to go something like UFC has status, because of their ability to promote, but there's this vocal outrage saying UFC hasn't been getting the best fighters so their belts are meaningless.
You hear it loudest in the heavyweight division right now. Apparently Fedor Amalienenko won't fight in the UFC, but if you go
places like here 73 per cent of those voting in the poll think Fedor would wipe the floor with the UFC champ if that matchup were ever allowed to happen.
So here's my question. Do the belts in MMA mean anything? Is there any way for a fighter who doesn't sign up with UFC to get a belt?
Why are people so convinced Pride was the superior organization as far as better fighters are concerned? I missed that one.
