He faired well at "Dega (at least in the Nextel race) and I think he'll do us proud once he gets a little more seat time.

Hey may even make us forget Trevor Boys

I think so too. Stock cars/trucks aren't open wheelers. Considerable differences in technique. Dale Earnhardt won his only Daytona 500 when he was 44, and his last NASCAR championship when he was 40. Jacques is only 36, and probably has as much seat time as #03.

I think this move by him at 'Dega was classy. He scored many points with the regular drivers; people he's going to have to race with and against if he going to win. Starting off with hard feelings, or worse crashing and taking a few regulars with him, would have been the wrong move.

Well unfortunately he didnt fare as well in the truck race (actually Im watching a re-run of it right now) He got bumped when a few of the drivers were woahin up to hit the pits and ended up in the wall - took two trucks with him too

Bill Davis said on the Speed Report last night that he was happy with the result in the Nextel race and plans to get Jacques as MUCH seat time as he can

I haven't watched a NASCAR race since Dale died. I did see a 'CASCAR' race this summer at the Grand Prix in Edmonton, and it was a lot of fun. I think with Jacques in a seat, I'll actually start watching again.

Know the feeling - took me a while to tune in Cart race after Oct 31, 1999. :(

Greg Moore. [trumpet] Yes, indeed. Mine was May 1, 1994 at IMOLA. Ayrton Senna. I nearly stopped watching F1 then too.

And you can tell this from one Nascar truck race and one Nextel Cup race? Wow. You ought to hire yourself out to the teams. Save them a butt load of cash in driver testing.

Yea, he was good at one point during the Indy or Champ Car Series.

But he has not done much since then. Plus he has criticized just about anyone in F1, including Schumacher (A much better man than what he ever was).

An F1 World Championship is not much? Oh, and Schumacher is an ass, a talented one, but an ass none the less.

He is overrated. Ev1 in Qc seems to love this guy (I really don't know why  ) He should ski in Mount Tremblant and run into a tree!

Why do I suspect we have an F1 fan here who does not like that Jacques told it as he saw it about F1?

Sorry Wullu,

There was no intent to insult.

All I was trying to say, is that Villeneuve seems to be way overrated. He was good while in Champ Car. Then early in F1. But has not done much since.

He always criticized eveyone expect himself. He always seemed to whine about either the car, the team or something else. It was never him.

He is pretty much a snob. (now, that is only my opinion). A few years ago, the comments that Villeneuve made towards Schumacher were not necessary. He is nothing compared to Schumacher.

And oh, the Mount Tremblant bit  He holds some kind of 24 hour ski competition every winter at the resort.

That WAS surprising wasnt it? On the entrance to the pits ~ how embarrassing  and with a World Championship in the balance (kinda) too!

Then there was, for the lack of a better description and hopefully not interpreted as racist, the "Chinese Firedrill" trying to get him out!

Couldnt believe a few of em were actually GRABBING THE TIRES! 8O

There is something you forgot. For the exception of a couple of years Jacques really only ran F1 as a test driver for BAR and another team that slips my mind. Mr Schumacher on the other had drove for the wealthiest team in F1. Not to say he didn't have talent he drove some incredible races.

Slugger Labbe couldn't believe the amount of information that he was getting from Jacques about the car and a 6th place starting position at the "dega" proves he understands setup and can drive the wheels off of anything you toss him in.

That was funny. ROFL

Even the announcers were yelling to not touch the tires. But with both rears spinning, is was apparent that car was done for the day. Rookie team mistakes - leaving him out that long on one set of tires. Ahh well. Brazil is going to be a great race!

Jacques left Williams to start BAR (British American Racing) in 1999 and Honda bought them out. Jacques got replaced by Jenson Buttons and test drove for Renault and then moved to Sauber BMW.

He can drive the wheels off a car, can't he!

And ONE thing Mario and Schumacher never did - Most wins (4) in his rookie year of F1. That broke the 3 wins by Juan Manuel Fangio and Giuseppe Farina in the 1950 season - something no one has done since!

Jacques is still my boy.

Lewis Hamilton has 4 wins.

Yup and thats why alote of people loved him. He was the last guy in F1 that brought drama to the sport. Now, your all looking at a bunch of robots that are saying scripts written by their owners.

As we saw in 97`, and also said by MS, if given the same car, Micheal would loose against JV. Because of one single thing... ( Heart ), just as about what Senna, Moore and Andretti has shown.

And dont forget what MS tried to do in Jerez, Spain back in '97.... pretty classless for a "World Champion"
