Hey TG there's some videos on the race web site now. I got together with the Blazing Paddle's guys last weekend. Lots of stories to listen too.

If you check out the videos, they went through the 5 Finger Rapids at 2am, the new guy on the team said he'd never been pumped up like that for anything he's ever done in his life. They made it through alright, then they just floated for awhile to come down and just relax. By that time they were starting to see things in the shadows, the big rocks sticking out of the water started looking like things. And then all of sudden a beaver surfaced and slapped it's tail right beside the canoe and scared the shit out of them and they flipped the canoe.

Oh and if you go, don't take dried apricots, they found out they work as good as prunes.

They spent half a day with the heresy squirts.

Ahhhh...yes the dried apricots...had a hiking partner on the WCT one year that learned that little lesson...NASTY!!!

I am totally going to check out the vids...I think I may have some takers to tackle this little adventure with me.

It must have been just amazing for them....pass on my Props to them!! [B-o]

That's a nice trip. We did it in '81 as part of Adventure Training.

I highly recommend it, the scenery was great, the fish were fantastic and all the history to boot. The wrecked steamers, abandoned hamlets and topless girl canoeists were all worthy of closer looks!

Wanna do it all over again in 2010????? :D

I would love to go rafting down the Yukon River. I just don't know how to get up there, I mean I don't know how I would convince any of my friends to drive up there (since there no coasters they wouldn't see the point  )

I think I need to find a friend or a girl friend that enjoys scenery in the outdoors.

The best rafting I can do around here is still kind of lame. And the scenery isn't as spectacular.
