CBC provides one. Any reason why Vive doesn't post it similarly to CDM, the Dominion and the Government news?
I noticed Vive members often cross-reference the CBC news. Vive discussions on some of these news items might raise the bar on what is produced at the source. CBC does not generally provide for Canadians to comment on its news.

Interestingly, la Société Radio-Canada does not provide such a feed. Le Canard is working on that...
Sorry for the severe delay in responding. Are you saying we should include the CBC news in the sidebar? Last time I looked into it, they only had a fugly javascript feed. It appears that they have accepted RSS though, and I will see about adding one.

Vive itself already provides RSS feeds for its own content, one per section.

I think it would be a good discussion amongst members of Vive to decide what RSS feeds should the Vive welcome page provide. I personnally thought that an RSS feed on Le Devoir for francoes and perhaps ghostchild (after an editorial message to Ahni - some forum items would be unsuitable for an RSS) for First Nations would be more useful to push the Canada microcosm out of its comfort zones. <br /> <br /> CBC or SRC RSS feeds might provide too much of a public broadcaster view of the country. Is this good or bad? In some ways they have made their own little world too. The magic of Vive would be to ensure that these little kingdoms can better interact. Shutting each other off is not a good idea and would repeat what everybody else is doing. But this is just my opinion in my own little FHQ minority kingdom.

If anyone else has any RSS feeds they would like to suggest, we will consider them. However, it would likely be better for people to load up their own RSS readers with suitable feeds rather than dropping them all on vive. As well, we can easily provide a page listing such feeds all in one place.

gaulois made a good suggestion however, I agree with Jesse's suggested approach. <br /> <br /> News from mainstream sources is quite accessible and pretty much known by and available to all (God knows, I get the Sympatico/MS version everytime I visit hotmail (and do you know what Brittany did today!!!). <br /> <br />

My point really was about making more of an effort to attract minority people to Vive. RSS feeds acknowledging on the welcome page some other perspectives of Canada would be quite meaningful. But then so is the power of maintaining the microcosm within the comfort zones of the majority. <img align=absmiddle src='images/smilies/rolleyes.gif' alt='Rolling Eyes'>

It's about not having space (or necessarily bandwidth) for the snowball that would occur if we tried displaying everyone's suggestions. If you have something that you feel is worth displaying, suggest it, and we will consider it.

I have already suggested Le Devoir and Ghostchild (subject to some editorializing discussion). This would fill a huge hole on Vive trying to cater to key stakeholders of Canadian sovereignties. Intent was not to address everyone's special interests but the key original stakeholders of this country. If a progressive media like Vive does not recognize these holes, who will ever do so?

Thanks Jesse for putting Le Devoir RSS feed in. <br /> <br /> Could you explain how the Vive front-page relates to the RSS feed it generates? I have noticed the news stories not on the front page showing on the RSS feed produced by Vive. <br /> <br /> I have also noticed the Globe and The Tyee just releasing their RSS feed fonctionality. For the news media junkies, it may be useful to consider a Vive page Section to pull the entire nation RSS feeds. I think it is pretty straightforward to do.

A directory of feeds would be much more useful.

Jesse: could you clone the "Links" banner item for an "RSS" banner item so that I can submit my large collection?
