One of the best things about Britain is birdsong. When I’m watching any British show I cant help listening for it in the background. I miss it in Newfoundland, esp. in the winter months.

My conure's favourite place is in behind my beard, curled into the nape on my neck with his beak kind of behind my ear. Then he makes a really cute purring noise.

Wow...the things you and I have in common! Our nanday conure passed away a year ago this month after being with us since May of 1991!

I'm sorry to hear that. :( Mine is about the same age. 1993.

It's a hen. Totally appropriate.

Besides, a good cock can be a pretty impressive sight!

As Dr. C so wisely observed Sweet Pea is a hen. She's also a very violent game hen when she wants to be and all the neighborhood cats that come into the yard know that if they eyeball the chicken they'd best run.

My conure is the same way. Cat gets too close, gets a very hard bite on the nose.

I used to have 2, and they would tag team cats in a pincer like movement until one had it by the tail. 8O

Cute chicken Bart. 16... wow. 8O

I remember when I used to spend summers on my grandparent's farm as a kid that the chickens could be quite friendly. There were hens that didn't mind being petted and didn't peck at me when I was checking the nesting boxes in their hut for eggs even when they were sitting in them.

How cool would it be to live in Alaska? This ladies yard is like a game preserve. She sees more cool stuff in a week than most of us city dwellers see in a lifetime. Personally I would be afraid to let my cats wander around all those wild predators. It would only take one second for them to become dinner.
