So I'm back to looking at bikes, and have been interested in getting a road bike. Do any of you guys think either one of these bikes are a good deal?

Never heard of a Medalist bike - it will be some off brand. Road bike frames haven't been given in inches for a long time, but 21" is about a 54 cm size.

Trek is a good company. Pilot 1.0 might have cost $800 new (not really sure). It's a 50 cm, they say.

You have to figure out the size you need before you shop for a bike. Big diff between 50 and 54 cm. If you don't know, go to a bike store and find out. I've posted here before about how to fit a bike properly. And fit makes a big diff in the enjoyment of the bike, especially if you're going to ride longer distances.

Turns out a Medalist is a Canadian Tire bike. Personally I would stay away from it, but some people seem perfectly happy with them. You'll get a cheap bike for little money.
