Very aptly named. Whale Channel is a relatively short channel coming south out of Douglas Channel. I don't know why, but you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a humpback. These guys were faciniating to watch, because they would just laze on the surface, not blowing or diving - just drifting and being lazy. There were everywhere. We came across one guy just going nuts with the fin slaps, tail slaps and breaching. What a hellofa show he put on! Mackay Reach is close very close to Whale Channel and had some spectacular scenery. Clouds were amazing as the fall weather patterns began to kick in.

makes me want to spew looking at it. There were plenty of times that the upper deacks were off limits when we hit storms. It was scarier than shit being on the bridge and you were looking up to see the crest of a wave. we had one asshole officer cadidiot come on watch with a clear garbage bag during one particularily nasty storm....domino effect.

Rather unfun in a flat bottomed boat.

A series of pictures of HMCS SASKATOON on the way down to San Fran. Took a beatting in 8m plus seas.
