A judge still has to sign off on the indictments but this is a good start.

If people really think this will go anywhere, I'll be laughing at you. Let me look at what Cheney is accused of.

"Cheney is charged with engaging in an organized criminal activity related to the vice president's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds financial interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees because of his link to the prison companies."

So far, a conflict of interest and having investments are not illegal, and if people think he went into the prison to assault prisoners, your head needs to be examined. No respectable judge will sign this

I somehow doubt they'll get anywhere with this charge, but if perchance they do, expect the outgoing president to pardon Mr. Cheney and any other of his cronies, as is custom in the US.

I doubt it'll go anywhere, but it's encouraging to see American's wanting his blood.

Vice President Cheney indicted by Willacy County grand jury
Quote:
A Willacy County grand jury under District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra returned multi-count indictments Monday against Vice President Dick Cheney, former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, plus several other public officials.

The indictment accuses Cheney and Gonzales of engaging in organized criminal activity. It criticizes Cheney's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees by working through the prison companies.

Gonzales is accused of using his position while in office to stop an investigation into abuses at the federal detention centers.

Another indictment charges state/">state Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. with profiting from his public office by accepting honoraria from prison management companies.

Also indicted are state/">state District Judges Janet Leal, state/">state District Judge Migdalia Lopez, The GEO Group (formerly Wackenhut Corporation), former U.S. Attorney Mervyn Mosbacher, Gus Garza and Gilberto Lozano.

They all face a stream of criminal charges including abuse of office, profiting from office, and murder.

Scooter Libby was indicted for that mistake. Are you familiar with that case?

It was hardly a mistake! I read a few articles about it some time ago.

Wasn't her name Valerie Plame? :) It was a little interesting, but didn't come out to be much of an issue.

I can't remember. But I hink I can recall the outcome. Some one took the fall for Cheney and was supposed to serve som time, a year I think, but ended up serving a month, if that even.

I think Scooter Libby got indicted and received a, what's the term? It's not a pardon, but a reduction of a sentence. He had to serve the time but not pay the fine or something. It was like 6 months. Maybe I should look this up before I start blurting out any more suppositions.

EDIT:
Mr. Libby was sentenced to thirty months of prison, two years of probation, and a $250,000 fine. In making the sentencing decision, the district court rejected the advice of the probation office, which recommended a lesser sentence and the consideration of factors that could have led to a sentence of home confinement or probation. I respect the jury’s verdict. But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby’s sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison. My decision to commute his prison sentence leaves in place a harsh punishment for Mr. Libby.

Straight from Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Libby
