Actual title (which would not copy for me):

Comic Chris Titus hints at assassinating Palin ‘if she gets elected president’

Quote:
Sometimes there is a line that is crossed between what appropriate for comedy and what’s likely off limits. But did comic Christopher Titus cross that line?

In an appearance on Monday’s “The Adam Carolla Show” podcast, Titus may have waded into that territory. In responding to a question about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” in which Palin defended her interpretation of what happened during Paul Revere’s pre-Revolutionary War famous ride, Titus launched into a description of what he would do if Palin were elected.

“You know what man?” Titus said. “I am going to literally — if she gets elected president, I am going to hang out on the grassy knoll all the time, just loaded and ready — because you know what? It’s for my country. It’s for my country. If I got to sacrifice myself, it’s for my country.”

Titus has appeared in numerous television shows and had a primetime sitcom on the Fox broadcast network that started in 2000 and lasted two years.

It does me. I didn't think the dichotomy between the political factions in the US had come to the point of assassination. We're still at the 'pie in the face' stage.

I think he was trying to be funny, but he just didn't quite get there myself.

I think he's trying to get himself imprisoned or killed. God help him now if someone acts on his words and then cites him as their inspiration. Not to mention I don't think the FBI will think he's all that funny as this kind of thing falls under a variety of Federal laws and the FBI guys are not known for their love of 'a good joke'.

Also, if Palin were to be assassinated the current cold civil war in the USA would go hot.

I agree. I kind'a got the impression he was parodying Oswald and not seriously stating his intentions.
Either way, it wasn't in the best of taste.

This is the first I've heard anything about Titus since his show was cancelled.

Used to watch it faithfully every week, Stacy Keach was hilarious. :D

D list retard trying to get back into the limelight. Talking about assassinating a politician suggests there is a reason the retard is on the D list to begin with.

Idiot.

Cassy Fiano (blogger) weighed in with this:

Quote:
In case there was still some residual confusion about the new tone favored by liberals after the Gabrielle Giffords shooting — you know, the tone that was supposed to curb violence by cutting out supposedly violent rhetoric — C-list comic Chris Titus has come along to give us a little lesson. From the Daily Caller, on Monday’s “Adam Corolla Show”, Titus explained how he would react to the hypothetical election of Sarah Palin as president.

Chris Titus wrote:
“You know what man? I am going to literally — if she gets elected president, I am going to hang out on the grassy knoll all the time, just loaded and ready — because you know what? It’s for my country. It’s for my country. If I got to sacrifice myself, it’s for my country.”

This was in response to Palin’s comments on Paul Revere (which of course have been proved to be accurate, not that you’ll hear that in the mainstream media). And as you can hear in the video, the audience’s response was to laugh. Apparently, joking about assassination is A-OK as long as it’s someone like Sarah Palin. Yet somehow, it’s the right that supposedly needs lessons in civility. I guess we just don’t understand that it’s perfectly acceptable to murder someone for their political beliefs, so long as the murderer is a liberal and the victim is a conservative. No wonder these morons idolize people like Che Guevara.

Of course, this will be waved off as an overreaction by the too-sensitive right. But is it? Palin’s parents have said that they have to sleep with guns because of the death threats they receive. The FBI arrested a man who had sent photocopies of a receipt for a gun he had bought and of a one-way ticket to Alaska to the Heaths. A gun-toting Palin stalker was arrested 50 miles from her home. Sarah Palin has said herself that she receives death threats on a regular basis. Were Sarah Palin a Democrat, then these incidents would be all over the media. Titus’ remarks would be denounced as fueling violent rhetoric against an innocent woman just trying to serve her country. But, alas, Palin has an (R) next to her name instead of a (D). So death threats and stalkers are brushed under the rug, and assassination is comedy.

So much for civility in politics.

This seems like a poor choice of words by Titus. Too many American political figures have been assassinated in our history.

I agree... it was an awesome show. Just a few months ago I watched a few first and second season episodes on the 'net.

I didn't even know he was still making any appearances anywhere...

Obviously a poor choice in words, there are some things that shouldn't be joked about... this is definitely one of them.
