Ok, that's two posts on this thread that start with "I grew up being told that..." I can't comment on the accuracy of what someone thought they heard as child, or may have misunderstood as a child, or whether the grown-ups speaking to/infront of them even knew what they were talking about.

Democrats my have not liked how the election was decided, but Gore gave a concession speech. No Democrat ever lead an armed revolt or tried to remove Bush from the Whitehouse or insist that government should disobey any orders from the white house.


Here's Gore's actual Concession speech and transcript. Tell me where he says "the election is rigged, I'm the real President, you should rise up, refuse to obey him and follow me instead! Wah wah wah!" that we will probably be hearing from Trump in a few weeks

Good evening.

Just moments ago, I spoke with George W. Bush and congratulated him on becoming the 43rd president of the United States. And I promised him that I wouldn't call him back this time. I offered to meet with him as soon as possible so that we can start to heal the divisions of the campaign and the contest through which we've just passed.

Almost a century and a half ago, Senator Stephen Douglas told Abraham Lincoln, who had just defeated him for the presidency, "Partisan feeling must yield to patriotism. I'm with you, Mr. President, and God bless you." Well, in that same spirit, I say to President-elect Bush that what remains of partisan rancor must now be put aside, and may God bless his stewardship of this country. Neither he nor I anticipated this long and difficult road. Certainly neither of us wanted it to happen. Yet it came, and now it has ended, resolved, as it must be resolved, through the honored institutions of our democracy.

Over the library of one of our great law schools is inscribed the motto, "Not under man but under God and law." That's the ruling principle of American freedom, the source of our democratic liberties. I've tried to make it my guide throughout this contest, as it has guided America's deliberations of all the complex issues of the past five weeks.

Now the U.S. Supreme Court has spoken. Let there be no doubt, while I strongly disagree with the court's decision, I accept it. I accept the finality of this outcome which will be ratified next Monday in the Electoral College. And tonight, for the sake of our unity as a people and the strength of our democracy, I offer my concession. I also accept my responsibility, which I will discharge unconditionally, to honor the new President-elect and do everything possible to help him bring Americans together in fulfillment of the great vision that our Declaration of Independence defines and that our Constitution affirms and defends.

Let me say how grateful I am to all those who supported me and supported the cause for which we have fought. Tipper and I feel a deep gratitude to Joe and Hadassah Lieberman, who brought passion and high purpose to our partnership and opened new doors, not just for our campaign but for our country.

This has been an extraordinary election. But in one of God's unforeseen paths, this belatedly broken impasse can point us all to a new common ground, for its very closeness can serve to remind us that we are one people with a shared history and a shared destiny. Indeed, that history gives us many examples of contests as hotly debated, as fiercely fought, with their own challenges to the popular will. Other disputes have dragged on for weeks before reaching resolution. And each time, both the victor and the vanquished have accepted the result peacefully and in a spirit of reconciliation.

So let it be with us.

I know that many of my supporters are disappointed. I am too. But our disappointment must be overcome by our love of country.


And I say to our fellow members of the world community, let no one see this contest as a sign of American weakness. The strength of American democracy is shown most clearly through the difficulties it can overcome. Some have expressed concern that the unusual nature of this election might hamper the next president in the conduct of his office. I do not believe it need be so.

President-elect Bush inherits a nation whose citizens will be ready to assist him in the conduct of his large responsibilities. I, personally, will be at his disposal, and I call on all Americans -- I particularly urge all who stood with us -- to unite behind our next president. This is America. Just as we fight hard when the stakes are high, we close ranks and come together when the contest is done. And while there will be time enough to debate our continuing differences, now is the time to recognize that that which unites us is greater than that which divides us. While we yet hold and do not yield our opposing beliefs, there is a higher duty than the one we owe to political party. This is America and we put country before party; we will stand together behind our new president.

As for what I'll do next, I don't know the answer to that one yet. Like many of you, I'm looking forward to spending the holidays with family and old friends. I know I'll spend time in Tennessee and mend some fences, literally and figuratively.

Some have asked whether I have any regrets, and I do have one regret: that I didn't get the chance to stay and fight for the American people over the next four years, especially for those who need burdens lifted and barriers removed, especially for those who feel their voices have not been heard. I heard you. And I will not forget.

I've seen America in this campaign, and I like what I see. It's worth fighting for and that's a fight I'll never stop. As for the battle that ends tonight, I do believe, as my father once said, that "No matter how hard the loss, defeat might serve as well as victory to shape the soul and let the glory out."

So for me this campaign ends as it began: with the love of Tipper and our family; with faith in God and in the country I have been so proud to serve, from Vietnam to the vice presidency; and with gratitude to our truly tireless campaign staff and volunteers, including all those who worked so hard in Florida for the last 36 days.

Now the political struggle is over and we turn again to the unending struggle for the common good of all Americans and for those multitudes around the world who look to us for leadership in the cause of freedom.

In the words of our great hymn, "America, America": "Let us crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea."

And now, my friends, in a phrase I once addressed to others: it's time for me to go.

Regardless, if the left was pushing the meme that the 2000 election was rigged then that's what these kids grew up with. Their experiences are legitimate and so are mine.

And in 2000 it was Democrats insisting that the vote was rigged, that simple ballots were 'confusing', and that heavily Democrat Florida counties should have a 'do-over'.

The left set the stage by casting doubt on the system and then the Podesta emails have revealed that Hillary and the DNC machine rigged the Democrat primaries against Bernie and now the O'Keefe videos prove that the DNC staged violent protests against Trump and deliberately made them look like they were orchestrated by Bernie supporters in order to disparage Bernie and his supporters.

Can you blame the younger people for not trusting the system when it is so obviously being rigged just as they were told it was?

Oh, and about my calling Hillary a BITCH??

She is.

Department of State security officers found then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton so unpleasant they refused to work on her security detail, a former agent claims in newly-released FBI documents.

The FBI Monday released 100 pages of documents relating to its investigation of Clinton’s private email server. The documents incorporate summaries of several interviews the FBI conducted, including one with a woman who served as an agent with the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) during Clinton’s time as secretary of state.

During her interview, the agent said Clinton treated agents rudely and with contempt, and was so unpleasant that senior agents typically avoided being on her security detail.

“[Redacted] explained that CLINTON’s treatment of DS agents on her protective detail was so contemptuous that many of them sought reassignment or employment elsewhere,” the interview summary says. “Prior to CLINTON’s tenure, being an agent on the Secretary of State’s protective detail was seen as an honor and privilege reserved for senior agents. However, by the end of CLINTON’s tenure, it was staffed largely with new agents because it was difficult to find senior agents willing to work for her.”


The agent added that she had spoken to several Secret Service agents who reported similar poor treatment from Clinton. (RELATED: Hillary Endangered State Dept. Staff For Photo Ops)

The agent’s claim about awful treatment from Clinton is backed up by some claims from ex-Secret Service agents. Author Ronald Kessler has written several books about the Secret Service, and claims about Clinton treating agents nastily in private are numerous (Bill and Chelsea Clinton, on the other hand, are described positively).

According to the agent, Clinton didn’t just treat agents poorly. She reportedly disrespected U.S. ambassadors with her routine breaches of diplomatic protocol.

[dcquiz] “From her own experience, and information obtained through [redacted] and other agents, [redacted] described a ‘stark difference’ between [Condoleezza] RICE and CLINTON with regard to obedience to security and diplomatic protocols,” the summary says. “RICE observed strict adherence to State Department security and diplomatic protocols while CLINTON frequently and ‘blatantly’ disregarded them.”

The agent said that it is standard diplomatic and security protocol for the secretary of state to travel by armored limousine with the U.S. ambassador when visiting a foreign country.

“CLINTON refused to do so, instead choosing to be accompanied in the limousine by her Chief of Staff, HUMA ABEDIN. This frequently resulted in complaints by ambassadors who were insulted and embarrassed by this breach of protocol,” the summary says. Clinton’s breaches of protocol, it adds, were “well-known throughout Diplomatic Security and were ‘abundant.'”

Beaver, whether the figurehead concedes or not, the followers do not. Trump conceding to Hillary wouldn't change even how one Trump supporter views the integrity of the election. Hell, it might disillusion them even more. Ut'd be the same for Hillary's supporters if they lost to Trump. Oh, Hillary concedes and says it was fair? Well I'll obviously no longer question the electoral system's integrity I guess!

Again, I fucking hate Trump, but I don't give a damn about any of the problems America's proud democracy is facing.

Trump wants to change the First Amendment so rich people and celebrities can no longer be mocked or satirized by the press, comedians, or mere mortals. And mockery of such people lay at the heart of the reasons for the American Revolution. Just another glaring example of how he doesn't care about democracy or America or anything but himself.

His more or less exact words were that he wants to change the law "to be able to sue liars and make lots of money from them", and keep in mind that he literally considers anyone who doesn't kiss his egomaniac ass to be a liar and hater.

This was pretty much the major statement in the first days of his campaign. You can google these things to your own satisfaction. Just because you have some permanent grudge against me doesn't mean that I'm trying to fuck you over.

Well, whatever. Either way I'm correct about what Trump said about suing people into shutting up. A threat to free speech like the one he proposes via changing the law to suit his tender self-image is just as dangerous to liberty as shooting cartoonists or firebombing newspapers.

1) A televised speech of Al Gore conceding the election to Bush and calling on Americans to unite behind Bush as President categorically disproves the claim that he called the election rigged and urged the public to not recognize the winner as the president as Trump is threatening to do FULL STOP.

2) It matters whether the losing candidate concedes as Gore did or will call the election rigged as Trump is threatening to do. When a leader fans the flames of controversy, they produce produces a different and more dangerous outcome than if they try to douse the flames FULL STOP.
