The magna carta was created by warlords for warlords who didn't like a central authority infringing on their rights to run their little fiefdoms the way they wanted to. You're fooling yourself if you think it was written with commoners in mind...most of whom were serfs. John was much maligned in history.
I don't disagree. I'm stating that it was inspired by the very same sediment. Regimes are overthrown that way and it is this lack of oversight that is at the root.
