In the dystopian novel Atlas Shrugged, Detroit is a massive ghost town of abandoned, rusting industrial capability populated by farmers working the soil by hand (not even using animal labor) and living hand-to-mouth. The author portrays it as an epic tragedy of unnecessary suffering.
As for "living wages", Detroit is famous for overpaying to a ridiculous extent. I've never made more than $45k a year (typically much less) and never been "poor", while Detroit unions were complaining that $70-100k wasn't enough to be a living wage. That's just senseless rhetorical diarrhea.
I have a buddy that moved here from a Detroit suburb about a decade ago. He always brings up worsening economic conditions in Detroit and mocks them for screwing themselves over financially.

Crowder's video on Detroit was fact checked by one those fake conservative, liberal plant journalists, then that was fact checked by an actual conservative.
