Well...if you two really need to get political...

H W should have taken out Saddam when it could have been done quick, excusably and left only a manageable amount of Middle Eastern whinging.

And before we rush to canonize the guy, how soon the Left forgets what they rushed to remind us of back when it was convenient for them. George H W was the "Read my Lips: no new taxes" guy.

In any case I'm not sure I see where the party of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Maxine Waters gets to brag about some imagined superior "sanity."

Having said all that, though, Rest In Peace, H W. Respect.

Here's a small reminder of how GHW ended up losing the 1992 election - it wasn't because of anything "the liberals" or Bill Clinton did. It was because he got stabbed in the back by Pat Buchanan and the hard-right crazies in the GOP who flipped out when a budget deal with Congress included tax hikes. It was far less the Ross Perot effect that hurt Bush in the election than it was Republicans refusing to vote for him, despite the victory in Kuwait, because they got in such a stupid snit over the taxes.

If GHW were alive today, younger, and still in the game he'd be the primary target of the kooks in MAGA and the Tea Birchers and be labelled with all their slurs like "RINO".
