This is an excerpt from an IM I just got from a friend who works at Microsoft:

Quote:
I just received a call, ("out of area" on caller ID) from the "Draft Hillary 2012" campaign. It started by saying the country would be better off with Hillary because the "robber barrons on Wall St. would be in jail and students would be able to afford tuition".

:?:

I wonder if Obama is considering dropping out of the race, like Johnson did back in 1968?

The reasons I can see him dropping out are more a combination of things than any one of them.

* He's lost support with religious blacks and Hispanics over gay rights.

* The economy is reeling and it's actually worse than it was four years ago.

* The Department of Justice fiasco called "Fast and Furious" is starting to take on the appearance of a criminal investigation as more and more Administration officials get caught in lies.

* Obama's grasping at dictatorial powers with ill-considered Executive Orders that trod on the turf of the Congress. His Executive Order that empowered his appointees to lie to Congress was reversed 99-0 in the Senate via an amendment to the Commerce, Justice, Science (CJS) Appropriations bill. That doesn't square with his one-time promise of the most transparent Administration in history.

* He's on the wrong side of the gun issue with a recent Gallup poll showing only 26% of Americans still favor gun control schemes.

But does all of this make Hillary the right person for the job?

I don't know.

That would be political suicide for Obama, Clinton and the party. So I doubt she will run now. In 4 years? Yes.

No, no, it's true. Obama has seen the error of his ways and will announce the Republicons were right after all. He will go on to become Michelle Bachman's running mate, and they will sweep, sweep I tell you, the country. No Demoncrat elected anywhere. The US resumes it's dominant position in the world and all will be wonderful.

hehe, that's quite the Republican fantasy. The "reasons" given are even more fantastical than the possibility of Obama dropping out.

Uh, Obama hasn't done anything in terms of gun control. In fact, under his presidency so far, gun rights have expanded. This is the NRA's paranoia on full display.

"He hasn't done anything...yet. So that means he must be planning something really bad!"

You're not following the 'Fast and Furious' debacle. Google it.

Isn't the 'gun control by the federal' issue settled ? The federal govt. used the commerce clause to apply federal laws but they were struck down by the Supreme Court. Gun laws are state issues.
