Tricks Tricks:
Could this be considered a violation of the First Amendment? Government expressly telling an institution that they are not allowed to use certain words?

No. The US Constitution, from my understanding, is a list of things the US Government is not allowed to inflict on citizens. It does not restrict what the US government can do to another US government department (internally).

No. The President is in charge of the Executive Branch of the Federal government and he has every right in the world to tell those subordinate to him how he wants them to conduct business.

That means they don't get to do climate propaganda when he says to knock it off. It means they don't get to advocate for abortion politics when he says to knock it off.

And etc.

See, elections have consequences and when leftists lose elections that means their fucked up agenda gets tossed out with the trash.

Bottom line: The Democrats lost. Get over it.

$1:
The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention fired off a series of tweets Sunday to try to quell fierce backlash from a Friday night report that the Trump administration had banned the agency from using certain terms in budget documents, including “science-based” and “diversity.”

“I want to assure you there are no banned words at CDC,” Director Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald‏ tweeted at the top of a thread Sunday morning, which is currently pinned.

Instead, several sources have tried to clarify that the language changes were merely suggestions to help make the agency’s budget more palatable to some Republicans and ease its passage.

The Friday report that sparked the firestorm was from The Washington Post, which said that the Trump administration had outright prohibited the CDC from using the seven following terms in its budget documents for next year: “vulnerable,” “entitlement,” “diversity,” “transgender,” “fetus,” “evidence-based,” and “science-based.” In some cases, CDC policy analysts were given alternative phrases and ways of, essentially, writing around the terms but conveying the same meaning. For instance, instead of “science-based,” the agency could write: “CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes.”

After firestorm, CDC director says terms like “science-based” are not banned

I find it ironic that the party railing against Political Correctness needs to have things politically corrected for them, so they can make a rational decision instead of an emotional one.

Funny thing is because the Washington Post ginned up a bullshit story (fake news) instead of going with the facts as you observed them the result will be that the CDC budget will now get more scrutiny and the Republicans will have an axe to grind because of the attempted deception.

If the Republicans grind an axe on the CDC, and possibly put people at risk, because of something the Washington Post did; don't you see a problem with that?

What I am reading here is:

1. The CDC 'suggested' to their staff that they rephrase certain things to avoid keywords that Republicans trigger on.

2. The Washington Post (owned by Jeff Bezos of Amazon), in their never-ending propaganda war against Trump, decided to recast the story as "Trump bans science words from being used at the CDC" because that makes Trump look bad.

3. Now what's in item #1 is revealed as the truth. The truth being that the CDC leadership wants to avoid scrutiny by Trump and the GOP Congress as they embark on a pattern of deception in order to keep doing the things Obama wanted them to do.

The GOP and Trump will now have an axe to grind because the Washington Post accidentally revealed acts of deception at the CDC.

So Republicans weren’t censoring the CDC, the CDC was proactively censoring itself out of fear of Republicans? Is that substantially better?

Instill pre-emptive workplace intimidation and terror in the drones who work at the department assigned to prevent epidemics that could potentially kill millions? Must be another one of those "wins" they keep prattling on about. :|

That makes sense, but would it still apply to what the do privately? I.E. if one of them jumps on twitter and posts about climate change?

The CDC never did 'what Obama wanted'. They did their job. They want to keep doing their job. They aren't trying to avoid scrutiny, they are trying to present their budget without all the buzzwords that make Republicans angry. If they have to word things so that they don't trigger the Republicans so they can them keep doing their jobs, why is that 'deception'? Speaking to your audience is 'deception', war is 'peace', ignorance is 'strength'. :(

Takeaway here is science based departments need to self censor in order to remain funded. Those words aren't 'banned' they will just lose funding if they use them. That they save lives every day is of little consequence to the administration. #MAGA

It's not wise to trust the ability of a system to contain a man who has publicly committed himself to the destruction of that system.
