Despite his incessant whining about being reimbursed and "when you gonna pay us back?" rhetoric, no, he's not asking for the US to be paid anything.

So everyone we buy from has to be our friend? Trump is projecting here, both as a persistent deadbeat who failed to pay his own bills and as a Putin fanboy.

Spin, spin, spin. [stupid]

Asking Canada to spend more on Canadian defense is not asking Canada to give the US any money.

Many countries in NATO, which we are expected to defend, are not only short of their current commitment of 2% (which is low), but are also delinquent for many years in payments that have not been made. Will they reimburse the U.S.?

It's a rhetorical question to which the obvious answer is NO.

You don't see how this guy works, do you?

He's going to use this as leverage against Germany over their gas deal with Russia, he's going to use it against the EU on tariffs and trade, and he's going to use it to justify re-positioning US troops.

It's a political move intended to rally his base - using false information.

Yes, we see that. Doesn't mean we like being the subject of the bullshit any more though.

I wonder if he even knows we were there, or in Iraq.

I wouldn't bother sending one. He probably wouldn't pay it anyhow.

Ok. So, what can the Americans do about it?

BartSimpson wrote:

Yes. He is an actor and he follows a script just like his predecessors did. This bluster is just to set the world stage for the upcomng storm.
Frankly, I think he was a boring actor in The Apprentice but since he entered the Repubican race, I admit that I think he deserves an Oscar award. His ability to attract, maintain and distract public attention is 2nd to none on the face of this planet.

Leverage? What leverage? US troops could not even defend US oil when needed most.
The world aint stupid. The world watched 2 planes take down 3 buildings without any movement of the US military. That is what everybody "saw" for lack of a better word.

What is the leverage??
What are Americans going to do when the world tells them "No!" in a collective sigh of relief??

Is it the "YMCA" Village People or the "In the Navy" Village People? What Village's People do you reference?

No.
You are on a need-to-know basis.
