That, because the main television media (especially those star-fucking ratings-whores at CNN) effectively gave him a billion dollars worth of free time during the campaign by not once bothering to even once ever seriously investigate any of the multiple years worth of credible allegations and accusations against him about both his personal behaviour and business antics. The evil fucker has always been wide open about who and what he is but the damn press never took any of it seriously until it was far too late to stop him. That goddamn report the NYT is crowing about this week should have been done back in the 1990's, at the latest, not two years after the bastard got elected king.

Then again, even if the media had done their jobs the right way, the same abysmal morons and rubes still would have voted in the same numbers for him anyway. Sigh.
