I never bother with companions in Fallout 3 for long (since they die), though usually I stick with Boone in Vegas. Well, until I get a sniper rifle with a silencer, then I get rid of him so I can stealth murder absolutely everybody. It's time consuming but fun to wipe out the entire Fort without anyone becoming hostile (until you kill someone important of course).

Eventually I just go for kill count. I tend to get 2000+ human deaths before I get bored and start having trouble finding people.

I almost never end Vegas without the Yes Man...

I never really had that many companion deaths, at least not in Fallout 3 (ED-E was squishy as hell in New Vegas)...except from those Ghoul Reavers which were extremely overpowered and glitched excessively in some maps. I modded the Broken Steel-added enemies down to be less bullet spongey.

Total War: Rome II

Anticipated Release Date: Supposedly October 2013

Really, do I need to say anything here? It's Total War: Rome II. The first gameplay trailer is out, and it looks stunning. There is honestly no way that Creative Assembly can screw up this game that I can foresee, but gaming companies have surprised me before.

This is one I'm looking forward to. I think it's going to be awesome, after Shogun 2 I think they've pretty much perfected success.

I think these guys could successfully tackle somehting like WWII on an epic scale. If you ever played Advanced Third Reich by ASL, think Axies and Allies on steroids, lots o' roids. It would be awesome.

I'd be pretty excited if they tried World War I first. World War II is a bit overdone, and I don't think the battles can be adequately shown in what they used in Shogun II, but WWI trench warfare would be beautiful to see in the game. Though, either way, it might allow Canada to be a playable faction...which would be awesome.

Same here as well. In Fallout I had next to no problems with the AI help. But in Fallout Vegas they did nothing but piss me off. They died every other minute, glitched out the rest. Once I lost the dog after a fast travel and never got him back.

It's a wish that will likely never be granted but I want so badly to see a new valkyria chronicles game on consoles or the pc.

It's a beautiful mix of turn based strategy and action with a bit of RPG sprinkled in and it took way too long for Sega to make another run at publishing the game after great sales early console cycle.

Let's see a sequel next gen. The game is way too beautiful and awesome to let it die now.

Seriously Sega published a ton of new copies so if you missed out grab one on amazon for 20 bucks it's totally worth it.

Boone was pretty tough, admittedly. Plus he was a badass. Always loved burning down The Fort with that man. ED-E and Boone were my default companions, and I only use the others for their quests. But yeah, even Boone died a bit quickly against Cazadors and Deathclaws.

I've been wanting to play Valkyria Chronicles, but sadly I only have a PC. I really hope somebody makes a PC port, but eh, I could always get an emulator and try it that way.

And as an update to one of the games I was looking for on my list, Simcity...FUCK EA.

Seriously, the Simcity launch is a massive disaster, so avoid a purchase.

I knew I was holding off for a good reason. EA has totally ruined Maxis just like they ruined Westwood.

How's EA managed to screw it up this time?

Basically, they made Simcity Online-Only, because blah blah leaderboards blah blah global marketplace (basically, DRM), but seemingly, they didn't expect that people would play Simcity for hours at a time, and every single one of their servers (basically 8, 2 North America, 2 Western Europe, 2 Eastern Europe, 1 Asia, 1 Oceanic) is completely overwhelmed. On top of that, if you can connect to any server other than where you started a city, like say, you started a city or region in "North America 1 Server", and you can only get on the Asia 1 server, well guess what? The city you created on the North America server is inaccessible on any other server other than the one you created said city in.

On top of this, there are numerous crashes EVEN IF you can get onto a server. As an example. In my case, whenever I tried to start a city, it would crash after 10-15 minutes. After a while, being persistent, I became lucky and the city started without a hitch.

Lately, however, I haven't been able to even create a new region/city due to how busy things are.

Now, to help alleviate the server load, they disabled achievements, leaderboards (no loss there), the global marketplace (iffy, but survivable) and the fastest game speed (if you play ANY Sim game, you know how convenient this speed is) so the servers can better cope. On top of this, they claim to have servers that are ready to come online, but seemingly that's bullshit, or they're waiting for the European Simcity release.

This is on top of the whole "small map" issue, which means that your cities, even if you can access them, are generally filled rather quickly. Oh and the usual bugs, like, for example, that the water table will gradually run dry, but people seemingly discovered that the only way to have a guaranteed source of water is if you place a sewage outlet pipe (literally, dumping sewage out of a pipe into the ground), and then build a water pump with water filtration units on top of where the sewage is dumped into the ground.

So basically, I'm in "FUCK EA" coughing fits as of late. Sadly, I let my excitement for Simcity overtake my good sense to be patient.

TL;DR version: Fuck EA. Online Only DRM + Few Servers = Overloaded Servers. Add bugs and lack of communication from EA employees means extremely angry fans and a shitty release. Did I also mention Fuck EA? I did? Good.

I know how you feel I had the same mantra when BF3 came out and it was for the same reasons: high demand coupled with inadequate servers. It think it was a good week before BF3 worked right.

And I hate Origin too. It reminds me of when Valve first came out with Steam years ago. It was like an anchor dragging your system back.

I didn't try Steam when it first came out, so I missed out on how it was bad before it became the great service that it is now.

I'm going to ask for a refund tomorrow if I can't reliably play. Of course, from what I've seen and heard, Origin Customer service has had 10 HOUR wait times to get to somebody to talk to due to this release.

I'm genuinely angry at myself, because I knew something like this was coming. Hopefully Maxis is intelligent, and does some good PR like with the Mass Effect 3 extended cut, through, hopefully some nice freebies for those who willingly paid money during this shitstorm, but we'll see.

Maxis' best bet would be to divorce itself from EA. Or at least get more autonomy like Bioware has.
