You're awsome Scape R=UP . I should have known to ask you about this. [B-o]

I set this up on my Ipad this morning. I works pretty good and I like the fact that I can choose to display the flash content or not.

Well, just for the record - I am still alive

Announcing "WOTA: Seehund Type XXVIIb"
(A kind of special preview version of WOTA)

(Video shows the current water running on the iPhone 3GS)

"WOTA: Seehund Type XXVIIb" will be the first release of the "WOTA: Wolves of the Atlantic" series.

It's about midget submarines only, so you can think about it as a kind of reduced version of the final WOTA subsim - to increase development speed it will offer less types of enemy ships and because it's about midgets it will use a portion of the map limited to the historical area of operations and range of the Seehund.

You want to help me to finish the project(s)?: Just spread the word!

Now to answer the most important question: WHEN?

The plan is to submit it to Apple in late december 2012 / early january 2013. Which means you possibly won't see that many types of ships in the initial release of the midget subsim.

And still not finished the game… but it is much closer to a release now.

Press Release Text:

First Spin-Off of the submarine simulation series „WOTA: Wolves of the Atlantic“ released.

BERLIN, Germany. (January 22, 2015) --- Mark Hessburg, in cooperation with the Technical Museum U 995 of the German Naval Association, today released „WOTA: U-Boat Compass“, a unique new type of compass app for iOS. "Yes, you could say it is a compass“ said Hessburg, "but primarily it is actually a fully functional virtual exhibition piece".

The app offers a working 3D simulation of a naval gyrocompass as used in german submarines during World War II. Situated in the center of a high resolution 360° spherical panorama of the command room of U 995 the compass can be looked at from any angle by turning the device. Of course the 3D model always keeps track of the current geographic direction while the user rotates the view and enjoys the high level of detail. Zooming in on the 3D model works up to the visible surface character of the tiniest screws. The compass, which is assisted by the device’s gyroscope, uses two rotating rings to display direction and offers a precision of up to 1/10 degree. An additional digital Rate of Turn and Angle of List indicator put the emphasis on the naval character of this app.

"WOTA: U-Boat Compass“ is the hybrid of a submarine simulation game and a museum ship. The app is a Spin-Off of the long-awaited mobile subsim "WOTA: Wolves of the Atlantic“ as such it offers features no one would expect in a compass app: a 3D animated information tour about the compass installations aboard the german Type VIIC U-Boat which shows an underwater scene and the U-Boat interior of the upcoming game. This impressive part of the app clearly shows the outstanding capabilities of WOTA and ultimately distinguishes the "WOTA: U-Boat Compass“ from all those simple compass apps out there.

Hessburg: "It had been an honour to cooperate with the German Naval Association and their Technical Museum U 995. The App is closing the gap between history and my WOTA submarine simulation series. It also supports the preservation of the last surviving Type VII U-Boat, offers an extraordinary compass and gives all those thousands of fans of WOTA a the chance to preview a small part of what will be the finished version of Wolves of the Atlantic, and enables them to see its stunning quality and attention to detail directly on their own devices.“

List of features:

- Compass assisted by the gyroscope.
- High resolution 360° panorama of U 995’s command room. Take a virtual look around by moving your device.
- Look at the compass from different angles by moving your device (lockable). Use pinch to zoom gesture to resize it.
- Animated information tour with 3D models of a Type VII U-Boat and its command room.
- Choose your compass case color: Black, Gray, Brass or Transparent.
- Outer (360°) and inner (10°) compass ring, just like on a typical naval compass.
- Angle of List indicator.
- Rate of Turn indicator.
- Speedometer (requires built-in GPS.)
- Latitude and longitude (requires built-in GPS or Wi-Fi network connection.)
- Different units (knots, km/h, mph, ROT per second or per minute.)

Compatibility: Requires iOS 7.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone and iPad. This app is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus.

Android version is not planned before the desktop version is out.

first iOS "WOTA: U 96"
then iOS "WOTA: Wolves of the Atlantic" (more complex title with more features)
later Desktop
then possibly other platforms

…but who knows, things can change

Snippet of my latest WOTA-Newsletter about the progress made in 2014:

Progress made in 2014:

- Visually WOTA definitely reached desktop quality on mobile now.
- Implemented my custom high performant global illumination system.
- new custom physically based shaders with real time IBL (Image based lighting).
- Improved the water shader with transparency and refractions.
- Water color based on weather and lighting.
- Water shader works now for higher altitudes of the camera - up to 10,000 meters.
- New realistic underwater environment with correct visibility, crepuscular rays and caustics.
- new FX, fire, smoke, depth charge explosions, large water splashes and new ship trails.
- New dynamic clouds with correct lighting. Weather FX like thunderbolts (this all works with real time IBL).
- All new 3D model of the Type VII U-Boat „U 96“.
- Highly detailed 3D interor of the command room.
- New buoyancy and underwater physics system.
- Correct hydrodynamic simulation - matches historic Type VII test data by 90% in all situations.
- Correct simulation of the diesel engines and propulsion. (which means for you: absolutely correct acceleration and fuel consumption).
- Correct simulation of all ballast tanks (including damage) based on newest scientific research for computer controlled ballast tanks. (my head is still smoking)
- Physically correct aircraft simulation based on the blade element theory
- Aircraft AI which really flies the aircraft with a virtual joystick. (crazy stuff, would in theory even work with RC models if they are fitted with sensors)
- New skin shader for the new characters.
- School of fish implemented into my underwater environment
- Tons of stuff and optimizations under the hood.

Some youtube movies (please visit my channel to watch more):
- A great example of the visual quality of WOTA and the new lighting/shaders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IAL_24bfb4
- Heavy seas and new clouds (note: this shows the outdated buoyancy system): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28y_UB-9xEs
- AI example, aircraft and gunners (note: the graphics in the video are terrible, they are made for testing of the AI only!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kujnOkUNRIs

Interactive example:

Name of the first game changed to "WOTA: U 96"
It will be released in 2015 (more earlier than later). Learn more about "WOTA: U 99“: http://www.wolves-of-the-atlantic.com/g ... ubsim.html
