Business School with social life in Montreal - merged

I'm an European student currently planning on exchange to Canada for one semester. I'm studying Business and Economics and have seen that Montreal is one of the best student cities. The schools I can choose between in Montreal is:

1. McGill University
2. Concordia University
3. HEC Montréal

Can anybody say something about which school is preferable among those who offers business programs? I know that McGill scores the highest on the global ranking, but is it the best for business students? Among the complete list we're able to choose between a total of six other schools in Canada; Simon Fraser University, Queen's University, McMaster University, Brock University, Bishop's University and Mount Allison. I'd like to go on a good school, but I'd also like a nice stay. Is any of the schools above to be recommended?

If you want to study in English, John Molson department of Concordia is highly ranked. McGill has the name but I've heard it's not specialized in Business.

For the HEC, it's also a very good University affiliated with Université de Montréal with bilingual studies.

If you already know English and want to acquire some French, HEC would be a good choice.

I do not speak french, and to be honest, that's not what i primarily had in mind to learn while down there. I've checked it up with all the universities, and they all offer the courses in English. Do you think that the academic level in business is greater in HEC than in McGill?

HEC for business and commercial studies... the only thing I can't tell you is if there's an academic difference between French and English... everybody I know that went there studied in French.

I know for a fact that the courses will be available in English, so that won't be a problem. How would you describe the students? Is the admission criteria higher on HEC than on McGill? Are people from HEC kind of snobs compared to people from McGill?

I've studied at the Molson school, the Seagram's school, Smirnoff school and tonight I am working through my 6th session of the Rolling Rock school, they all make me feel reely smart...for a while. :D

Seriously though, regarding a "nice stay":

Brock University - I'm sure there are better options for lifestyle. The business school may have recently earned some reputation over the past decade but location (St. Catharines) is lousy, the city is not nice, just a factory town and a place to get drunk. Same for McMaster: Good school reputation, bad city (Hamilton).

Queen's is also a "big name" university and it's city (Kingston) is a quaint, scenic university town but in time forgettable. I don't see what more you can have there that you can't have in the Montreal or Vancouver options.

You should give your Montreal and Vancouver options a serious consideration.

Thank you! I think I'm going with Montreal. In that case I'm thinking of HEC Montréal, Concordia University and McGill University. I've heard of HEC i France and also McGill before, but never Concordia. Even so I've read that it's a really good school. How good is it compared to McGill and HEC? Which school would you choose among the three schools?

If you want to study in an English-only environment in Montreal, then you'll have to choose between the John Molson School of Business and McGill. John Molson School of Business does have a better program than McGill, however McGill is known internationally by it's name. It's your choice. Do you want a school with the better program, or do you want a school known for it's name. Hard decision.

On what basis do you conclude that one program is "better"? The quality of an education any student gets, in any discipline, is 99.99% based on what the student does, not where they do it.

I've heard that HEC is very social, but I've never heard anything about Concordia? How would you compare these schools?

You should have stated that right at the start. Your original post made program sound important.
