Hello, We understand that you or your business may have interests in the exploding Chinese language Internet User market. By end of 2004, the number of Internet users in China will exceed 150 million and Chinese Internet users from elsewhere - Hong Kong(~2M), Singapore(~1M), Malaysia(~1M), Taiwan(~5M), USA (~2M) - approaching another 15 million, with as many as 25 to 30% of them having credit cards. By end of 2005, Chinese will displace English as the number one Internet language. By 2007/8 more than half of all Internet users will be from mainland China with their numbers around half a billion. Already, more than half of all content on the web is not in English, with a major chunk of it in Chinese, even though ironically non-English users, like the Chinese, are routinely forced to access this non-English content by typing English domain names. Now things have changed and Chinese Internet domain names, completely in Chinese characters, like我的名字.公司 which is equivalent to “myname.com”, are fully authorized and regulated by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) of the People's Republic of China (n.b. September 7, 2004 endorsement by MII minister at the 14th Internet in China conference held in Beijing (http://www.enet.com.cn/enews/inforcente ... 41380.html) and already widely usable within mainland China, with over 50% of end-users already enabled and supported by all major ISPs and portal sites in China. They are now available through us - netusdomains, an authorized reseller of the exclusive partnership between i-DNS.net, the multilingual Internet pioneer and CNNIC, the Chinese Government's Internet Agency. In the past several weeks of "soft launches" over 30 000 names have already been registered and a few disputes settled in favor of large multinational companies, as well as names of recent Chinese Olympic champions ( http://news.sina.com.cn/o/2004-09-09/04373622964s.shtml), whose names had been taken under the "first-come-first-serve and then-dispute" policy. Note, you may have in recent years bought the Internet domain names that are partly in Simplified Chinese characters and partly in English, under the top-level domain ".com" and ".net" from the Verisign IDN Registry - e.g. 我的名字.com and我的名字.net. These 2-language hybrid names are not to be confused with or in anyway connected with the Chinese domain names in completely Chinese characters that we are discussing here. As you probably know, the hybrid names from Verisign are not widely usable, particularly in the target audience of 100+ Million Internet-users in China, where distribution of the necessary plug-in software has been very low. Furthermore, to date, the Chinese authorities have not publicly endorsed/approved this hybrid English/Chinese product. The newly-approved domain names, completely in Chinese characters (including the ‘dot’ character) that we offer do not suffer from these two problems. They are already widely usable in China, and authorized by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) of the People's Republic of China. These Simplified Chinese names (that had been previously available from i-DNS.net without China government approval), under the top-level domain ".公司" (i.e. ".gongsi" which means "company" in Chinese) and/or ".网络" (i.e. ".wangluo" means "networking") are now available outside of China ONLY through i-DNS.net's authorized Registrars. These names are fully authorized by the Chinese government and as of now the majority (>50%) of China's 100 Million end-users already have the necessary software installed either on their computers or the computers of their Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Tens of millions of plug-in software have already been distributed by all the major Chinese search engines and portals like (Baidu, Sohu and Sina etc.- see http://www.enet.com.cn/enews/inforcente ... 18285.html) and all 4 major ISPs in China have enabled their end-users. The purchase of such Simplified Chinese domain names from the netusdomains-i-DNS.net-CNNIC partnership, will allow the corresponding web-site to be accessed by an equivalent, computer-generated domain name in Traditional Chinese characters (used in Taiwan and Hong Kong) free of charge. (You can also buy Traditional Chinese names directly and get an automatically assigned Chinese version free). In addition, domain names in a new top-level - ".中国" (i.e. which means ".china") – like我的名字.中国, as well as Chinese keywords like通用网址, are also government approved, widely usable and available for registration. But for now these can only be registered in Simplified Chinese, with a Traditional version automatically assigned. Online transliteration service! Great for--. Oh wait, that says "LOW-COST", doesn't it? Hence not free.... Typical.... >_< Good thing Traditional Chinese characters read the same; otherwise, there would be a hell of a confusion with all the spoken dialects of Hong Kong, Taiwan and the mainland. X_x |
