Post subject:  Has Anyone Actually Seen The Debris From Japan?

... the bc government claims that debris that originated from the japanese earthquake/tsunami of 2011 is washing up on the shores of british columbia. yet i live on the beach and haven't seen any excess debris, let alone debris that might have originated from japan. i think this whole story is a hoax fabricated by the bc government to scapegoat japan and get money out of them. apparently japan did make a big money payment to the bc government as compensation for the debris cleanup costs ...

... could i be right? has anyone actually seen any of this debris?

... i guess japanese writing could indicate the material came from japan. but i sure hope the authentication process to verify the origin of the debris is more stringent than just looking for japanese writing because of how easy it would be to fake ...

Who the fuck would waste time faking that on this scale?

... well, apparently the country of japan is doling out millions of dollars to jurisdictions where debris is washing up on the shore. so there IS incentive to fake it since there is money to be made ...

... that's why it might be faked. and it wouldn't have to be done on large scale like you say. it wouldn't be that hard to do ...

... this is why i hope japan is involved in the debris authentication process ...

I don't know. They work the coast there--fishing guides, and one of teh guiys asked the same question. They said they've seen lots of stuff floating through.

I didn't know BC had taken money off Japan for clean up. Not much class there if you ask me.

Sounding like Japan provided the money on their own.

$1:
Japan does not have to take care of such debris under international law, but in a report on Monday the English-language Nikkei newspaper said officials would announce a plan to provide assistance to the U.S. and Canada later this month.

... i agree with you, Zipperfish, it's totally classless on bc's part. japan got hit with a natural disaster that caused serious destruction and hardship. we should have sympathy for japan, not look for reasons to blame stuff on them and certainly not claim we are owed anything by them ...

The best place to see the results of the Pacific Garbage Patch is on the outlying Hawaiian islands...

I will say, this particular complaint on the part of the environmentalists is for real. And for all the billions we're piddling away on bulls#it 'green energy' projects that are designed to make billionaires out of people like Al Gore if we could spend just a fraction of that treasure on cleaning up our trash we could make a real difference.

And if we spent as much on the environment as we're wasting on global warming claptrap we'd have a pretty impressive result for the money as opposed to hundreds of bankrupt 'green' corporations.

... okay, just to be clear, the above pictures show debris on the shores of hawaii from the 'pacific garbage patch' that isn't alleged to have come from japan?

Some of it certainly is Japanese. But did it come from the tsunami? I have no idea.
