Been to several east Asian Malls...they're all different. Some are set up like Western shopping malls and other follow a more open market under one roof, like a traditional street market. The ones in Western Asia are the same. |

andyt andyt: What does Asian mean? If it's a Chinese mall, like we have in Richmond, BC, will the Asians in Calgary tell whites to go away, this mall is for Asians, as they do in Richmond. If it's anything like the Asian markets I go to in Edmonton, the Asians will happily take my white money and even explain to my confused white ass what this weird vegetable I'm looking at is good for. |

llama66 llama66: the best part is, its outside city limits; ergo there is no transit. Leading to smaller hordes of teenagers? A selling point I would think. |

Market vs Mall. The mall I'm referring to, (there are actually several) is in an enclave dominated by well off/wealthy Chinese. Many have signs only in Chinese and don't speak English, or won't. Yet a Chinese man claimed discrimination because a local McDonald's wouldn't/couldn't serve him in Mandarin. We used to have a Chinatown - ie lower end Chinese stores and restaurants. Never ran into that sort of attitude there. Even if their English was limited, glad to help. It's the new, wealthy, Chinese that create these sorts of problems. |

DanSC DanSC: BartSimpson BartSimpson: 280,000sf is not really a 'mega mall'. Bart, it's Canada. A combination KFC/A&W is a mega mall  Guess ya never heard of West Edmonton Mall  That mall is so big, it even has more operational submarines than our navy does. Literally. |

They'll probably pipe in ethnic Asian muzak. That will hold the teenageers at bay just as well as classical music has proven to do.

A combination KFC/A&W is a mega mall Actually, Canada has several mega-malls, most of which are larger than the Mall of America (rather ironically owned by Canadians), the largest of them being West Edmonton Mall (800 shops and services).
