As far as I know, they're volunteers, so I don't see the issue.

The main advantage to having more people is accountability.

The 15 polling stations for your "city" is also Elections Canada going out of it's way to making voting as convenient as possible to encourage more voting.

Did you also notice that there were more opportunties to vote early, and almost whenever you liked, this time around? If you wanted to you could've voted even before the real campaigning began. There were even mail in ballots.

They certainly are making it readily available, but I don't think that is effecting those that don't vote. Alot of people I've spoken with just don't even seem to get the concept behind voting, they really don't seem to care.

As far as them being volunteer's, I'm sure some are, but I also saw a thread here before about someone making big bucks working election day for EC. Can't seem to find it right now though.

Not really, but the Liberals need time to fix their party and that could take a bit of time. :D

The only thing I'll say about the Liberals is an old cliche......"Stick a fork in 'em."

I too don't think the next Gov. will last long who ever it is.....I would give the a bit longer than 6 months though. I'm just hoping the Greens get a seat.

Tell me I'm optimist... I think this governement will last at least 3 years.

Why ?

First, the four parties are broke, so they need time to raise funds and get back on their feets. Also, the Canadians don't want an election anytime soon, the parties that would cause the downfall of this govt would loose a lot of support and credibility. On the other hand, It will take a lot of time for the liberals to choose another leader and clean their mess. As for Le Bloc, they will try to retake Quebec city, La Beauce and Saguenay from the cons first, and then prepare themselves for the next provincial election with the PQ. So the only party remaining is the NPD and it's not with the number of seats they have that they will shut down this gvt.
