sandorski sandorski: Regina Regina: Reffs want LA to win. Brutal....... 3rd LA goal was very questionable. 1 OT over, everyone is looking very tired. Yup. They called NY for a bump in front of the blue paint but let a goal stand with an LA player in the paint. |

I didn't watch the game tonight and saw only a bit of game 1. Is the reffing really one-sided? (regardless of who you are cheering for ) |

Eff the Rangers anyway. After the filthy goon job they did on Carey Price I hope the Kings sweep them in four. 1994 was the only time I can ever remember cheering for the Canucks. I genuinely hate the Rangers. Not too crazy about LA either, in general, but nothing like the full-blown loathing I have for NY. I think it's a leftover from the 1980's wars between the Flames and Oilers. I hated Glenn Sather back then (to the point of kind of wanting him dead - yep, I was a genuine nut as a hockey fan when I was younger) so I'm assuming my modern hate for the Rangers has to do with him being GM there. If the Kings scorch the shit out of NY and the result is Sather finally gets fired then I'm going to put it down that all is finally right in the world. |

Regina Regina: Yup. They called NY for a bump in front of the blue paint but let a goal stand with an LA player in the paint. As they should have, IMO. This is a common theme with defence and the goalie looking to make a call if the puck goes in. The defence are pushing the players into the goalie and the goalie is initiating contact with the player. Carey Price is the master of this. Henrik was out of position on that goal only because he and the defence were looking for contact to draw a pentalty or to negate a goal. They played their cards wrong. Henrik is one of the best goalies in the league that plays deep in his net. There's only one reason why he was out of position...he was looking for contact and didn't get the call. |

I'm hoping NY will win the cup but it doesn't matter that much to me. I just hate to see the game change on bad calls and the rules during the playoffs change as they go deeper. Drives me nuts. |

If LA manages to win The Cup, they'll have to change their name to the "Comeback Kings". |

Of course he is, never said otherwise. Legal? Sure. Cheesy? Yep. Players used to dive all the time. This isn't much different. I suspect that in time, you'll see goalies get penalties for instigating contact and diving. It's too obvious now. The problem is with goalies like Price is that he has a reputation for doing so, so when he's looking for calls to get a goal called back or a penalty, he's unlikely to get the benefit of the doubt. I also love how defencemen all over the NHL throw guys onto their own goalie and look for the call. Dumb. |

The only reason I am cheering for NY is because of Alain Vigneault. Love to see him win the Cup his first season with the Rangers.......but I don't think it is in the cards. Won't be all that disappointed if it is the Kings as they have provided some outstanding games this play-off season. |

I don't really care who wins this series either though I am leaning towards LA for no better reason than they represent the western conference. Honestly this match-up is a bit of a yawner to me. I agree with the above comments about how often you see opposing players getting pushed into the crease and thus sometimes unintentionally interfering with the goaltender. It's unfair that they get penalized or have a goal disallowed when this happens. It also puts the goalie in a vulnerable position to get injured. |
