Missed this game, occurred earlier than I thought. Looks like I didn't miss much though.

Vancouver at Calgary

81

The Canucks play their final road game of the season tonight when they head into the Saddledome looking for a bounce back win against the Calgary Flames.

The Canucks went into last night's game in Edmonton saying all the right things about wanting to spoil the Oilers' special night. They also went into that game with some swagger riding their longest win streak of the season after coming off three consecutive victories over the three playoff-bound Pacific Division teams. Sadly, that was the extent of all the positives as the Canucks put up very little resistance in a 6-2 loss. They'll get one last crack at revenge against the Oilers when they host them in Saturday's home and season finale at Rogers Arena, but the same can't be said of the Flames if the Canucks don't manage a win tonight.

Calgary has already secured the season series win but the Canucks can still get the last laugh and send Flames fans home disappointed for the final time this season. A win for the Flames would mean that they will finish ahead of the Canucks in the regular season standings for the first time since the 2007.08 season. Look for Ryan Miller to return to the crease for the Canucks tonight, while the Flames will counter with Joni Ortio.

A 6-2 loss to the Oilers, a 7-3 loss to the Flames, giving up 2 PP and a SH goals, being outshot in the last 11 games and in 17 of the last 20.....

For the first time, I'm actually looking forward to the end of the season on Saturday.....

I know it's kind of jerky to be a tankster, but c'mon the Sedins aren't getting any younger. We need a first line for the future. We need to tank against Edmonton.

We need to tank Saturday and Columbus needs to win one of it's two upcoming.

If that happens Canucks draft third. They say the first three draft choices this year are gimmes - pretty hard to go wrong.

If that doesn't happen and the Canucks lose against Edmonton they draft no worse than fourth which gives them a shot at the touted ace, upcoming defenceman Chychrun

And the higher the position in the draft the greater the odds of winning the lottery at the end of the month. That gives you a shot at predicted superstar Auston Matthews

This is also interesting.

It's the free agents available this summer. They say the Canucks will have cap space this time around for a change.

Vancouver vs Edmonton

82

The Canucks close out the 2015.16 season when they host the Edmonton Oilers on #20in20 Fan Appreciation Night.

It was shortly after the Canucks won three in a row for the first time this season against the three California teams that team captain Henrik Sedin was asked whether the victories had any meaning. His response was that it didn't. In hindsight, he was absolutely correct not only as it pertained to a season that will see the Canucks fail to qualify for the playoffs but even on the smaller scale of just finishing the campaign with some momentum. That was made evident with the Canucks following up the win streak with back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Oilers and Flames - two teams that will also be sitting on the sidelines when the post-season gets underway.

Even though a win tonight would amount to little in the grand scheme of things, sending the fans who have supported the team through thick and thin during a difficult season home happy would be meaningful especially on #20in20 Fan Appreciation Night. Getting a little measure of revenge against the Oilers, who knocked off the Canucks 6-2 three nights ago, would be at the top of the Canucks' priority list as well. Whether the Canucks make any changes for tonight's contest won't be known until the morning skate at the earliest but expect to see Mike Zalewski in the line-up. The 23-year-old, who has 30 points in 55 games in the AHL this season, was re-called yesterday from Utica.

And speaking of 3, look where we're sitting before the game.

So the way I heard it, providing we don't do something stupid and win tonight we can do no worse than draft 6th. It doesn't matter how bad the lottery treats us at the end of April. And the odds of us doing better than that are much better.

We finally have something to look forward to in June. :D
