Yeah, but celebrity and athelete types don't go out with "ladies" anyway.

I doubt you'd be able to find a genuine lady among the current crop of celebrity Hollywood sluts these days anyway.

No defense of Avery, though they should have let him play against Phaneuf before they suspended him. Except for Brett Hull, who does not appear to have much of a future as a GM if signing dorks like Avery is his priority, I doubt that any of the other Stars would have done anything if Phaneuf had gotten ahold of Avery the other night and boot-fucked him a good one.

people talk smack about other people's girlfriends all the time. I think it was pretty lame for the league to suspend him for this.

It's more than lame. It's absolutely ridiculous. For what? Why does anyone think what he said was offensive? I could think of a million things that would be considered offensive, but this certainly isn't one of them. And does anyone know what the press said to him or asked him that prompted him to say what he did? Anyway, I find what he said in reference to his "ex" totally inoffensive and it probably doesn't deserve any publicity. I just don't get it. I guess some people find some things extremely offensive and some feel 360 degrees the complete opposite, which is me. I just scratched my head when I heard about this. Gary Bettman, what the heck were you thinking.

Why, oh why, is this remark offensive? People say this kind of stuff all the time. It doesn't mean a thing. Come on, stop making a mountain out of a molehill.

I agree, the comments had nothing to do with the game. But he made it part of the game by using the media covering the game and by mentioning it in the same comment that he say to enjoy the game.

He is an idiot, I am happy he made the comments though because I think he is going to drag Hull down with him.

Imagine that, Avery and Emery team mates, with gm Hull... LMAO

Stuff like this is representative of the decline in society generally. In the days before free-agency and multi-million dollar contracts for 20 year olds, you didn't see this kind of shit. Atheletes had some self-discipline. And if they didn't, their teams did.

I saw the Giant's coach on TV today, and the guy was going on and on about how disappointed he was, how sad it was, etc. I don't think Bear Bryant or Lombardi would have been so sappy if any of their guys had pulled shit like this. They'd have ripped the guy a new one.

Imagine Joe Dimaggio saying the kind of crap about Marilyn Monroe the Avery did?

Jim Brown was one of the fiercest running backs of all time, but I don't recall him ever taking his "nine" to a nightclub and blowing a hole in his leg.

Spoiled, pampered, assholes.

I don't think it has anything to do with a decline in society at all, it has more to do with a propensity to pay young people unheard of salaries to play a game. Even adjusted for inflation, I bet DiMaggio never earned anything close to what athletes earn today (compared to say A-Rod's $25 million per season). Same goes for Jim Brown. Hell, Phil Esposito (one of the biggest NHL stars in e 70s) worked at a lumber mill in the offseason, because his salary was so low.

Nowadays, 18 year old kids get million dollar salaries for the same thing that athletes used to earn $50,000 a year for.

I think he's officially done with the Stars and he should be done in the league. You telling me there is nobody with better skills than Avery?
He's like Tie Domi. They kept him around for the 'intangible factor' rather than hockey skills.

Domi wasn't anywhere near the distraction Avery is. Avery needs to go, he's too much an idiot for his own good.

Did you even see the interview?

First of all, refering to woman as "sloppy seconds" is not something the league wants to endorse.

The press didn't say anything to him, Avery walked up and asked "do you have a camera?" thats how it started.

It probably didn't deserve the attention it got, but Avery went to the media and asked for a camera...
